Requirements

I’m a first-year student at U of C studying Law and Society, and I’m hoping of becoming an immigration lawyer. I’m aware I need to complete my undergraduate degree, but I’m curious about what law schools look for whether it’s courses, work experience, grades, volunteering, etc. I’m also considering finishing my degree in three years only if I can maintain good marks Is that acceptable to law schools?

Opt out

Hello, I’m having some trouble opting out of the university health insurance because I already have coverage. I don’t know what a certificate number or group number is. I’m on my mom’s insurance, so I’m not sure if they’re asking for her birthday and her group number, or if we all share the same information. I don’t understand any of it. If someone could explain it to me, that would be great. Thank you.

First year student

I’m wondering if I can finish a Law and Society degree in the shortest time possible, like three years or even less, and I don’t care if it means a lot of work. I just want to get it done quickly. If I speak to an advisor in my first semester and ask to take six courses, would that be an option? Can I also take courses in spring and summer, and if so, how many? I know in high school, there are ways to earn credits, such as doing a language challenge for 15 credits or completing a fast-paced course to get another 15 credits. Is there something similar I could do at university? Also, are advisors usually hesitant about students wanting to finish their degrees quickly, or are they generally accommodating and willing to offer advice, or are they just pushy about their opinions?

Edit: I’m not asking on whether I will be employed or not if I do it quickly since I won’t be working in Canada, and the place I’m moving back I’m well connected, and getting a job is easier, but thanks for the advice.

Factory reset

Hey, I performed a factory reset on my phone about 20 days ago, which caused me to lose my journal entries and photos. I don’t use Google Photos or Drive, and I haven't backed up anything on a laptop—there's nothing to recover from. I know this puts me in a tough spot, but I really need those photos back. I graduated on May 29th and lost all the pictures from that day. Please help me; even if I can't recover the journal entries, I just want my photos back. I do have to Google Photos, but it only backed up until May 19, so I’m not sure if that helps. Please, but there must be some way pls.

Did I fail my diploma?

I used up the whole 6 hours and couldn’t finish on time, even though I wrote my on the planning part of it for my critical and also used speech to text, so sometimes speech to text either mishears things or put something in a badly phrased way, as well as not using punctuation, which causes all to crumble together. I think I was able to edit the first two parts of my critical, which were my introduction and my first body paragraph, but then everything gets scrambled around. In my class C/ART, I got a 60, even after fully exiting and rechecking it. How likely am I to fail the diploma? Also, my current mark is a 71.

I just wanted to ask: I got accepted into U of C and paid my deposit. If my marks end up slightly below their requirement say in one subject like ELA will they withdraw their offer?
