Potential CRO E.Coli infection
Has anyone here received a urine culture back indicating e.coli infection with potential CRO (Carbapenem Resistant Organism) and had it clear up? I'm terrified.
UTI symptoms began mid May and im on my third round of antibiotics and scared to come off of them later this week when the course is finished.
My culture noted that it was susceptible to Cipro so that's what I'm taking now, but before that I was also on Keflex while waiting for the culture to come back.
Initially I was on Nitro for 5 days which the strain also indicated susceptibility to and it came back within 4 days of finishing them. I was put on keflex while awaiting the culture and switched to cipro when the results came back.
I'm scared and dont know anyone who has experienced this before. It seems like a scary level of resistance if this is potentially what I have.
I'm spiraling worrying that its going to go to my kidneys and cause organ failure or sepsis.
