My LO spent a month in the nicu and was swaddled basically the entire time. The nurses were the only ones who could swaddle him tight enough to keep his arms down, or him in a swaddle at all. He hulks his way out of pretty much every swaddle, ive tried a classic blanket one and the halo sleep sack. He has to have his hands by his face.

Are sleep sacks required for safe sleep? Or can I put him in his bassinet in just a sleeper? Hes a very active sleeper and rolls a bunch for being a preemie newborn.

Ive tried swaddling him with his hands out which worked well enough, but besides for warmth is it necessary?
