This might be the perfect setup for something i wanted to see in the next arc
Ever since hidari revealed that his target will be sarada, i wanted their fight to be a 1v1 with absolutely no outside interference, but the only problem with this was that there was no reasonable way boruto wouldn't take part in that fight, but now there is. So the last chapter revealed that there were 3 ways the encounter with code could go, boruto kills him, he escapes and goes after sarada to use her as bait, or he switches sides and joins boruto's team. He escaped so the 2nd option will happen now, he will go after sarada, but since boruto is prepared, code will not get to her and he will fight boruto again. And this information might create an unforeseen future where hidari attacks sarada while boruto is distracted with code, which would give us the hidari vs sarada 1v1 that a lot of us really wanted.
And imo, the 3rd option is still possible even with the 2nd option happening, which would mean that my theory about code joining boruto would come true. And koji even mentioning that possibility just seems like a chekhov's gun.
