I was very excited to see Baby Boruto and really wish we had more episodes of the time where he was still little and Naruto not the Hokage yet.🥹🥺
One thing I’ve noticed in certain parts of the fandom is that people keep saying Boruto is still in the “beginning” of the manga. And I can’t help but wonder: how is it still the beginning when we’re already approaching Chapter 40? By next year, we’ll be getting pretty close to Chapter 50. How is that still the beginning?? 😭
This isn’t even a weekly manga; it’s monthly. Of course, there will be some pacing issues, slow developments, and moments that feel like stalling. But calling it the beginning at this point? Really?
We’re currently in the Hidari arc, and the Jura arc might be next, followed by whatever comes after. These are among the latest Shinju developments, and there’s obviously still plenty of story left to explore before Boruto’s eventual confrontation with Kawaki, Momoshiki taking over Boruto’s body again, and all the other major events that still need to happen. I understand that there’s a lot of story left, but how does that automatically mean we’re still in the beginning?
I feel like some people who say this are fans of certain ships who believe they still have a chance of getting more moments, or fans of characters who have mostly remained in the background. So they keep saying things like, “My ship could still become canon; it’s too early to tell,” or “My favorite character has only appeared once, so they’ll definitely come back and get more development.”
But sometimes, a character is simply a minor or background character, like Namida, who primarily belongs to the anime side of the franchise and often appears in supporting roles. Not every character is meant to have the same level of importance or narrative presence.
And I’m asking this without trying to sound rude, but do some people genuinely not see how transparent Ikemoto is about the roles his characters play in the story?
Every character has a role and a function within the narrative. Of course, it’s perfectly fine to want your favorite character to receive more attention, but we also need to understand what their actual role is and how much narrative importance they’re meant to have.
Sarada, for example, receives negative comments from some people simply because she gets significant attention in the story. But she has already been confirmed as the main heroine of her story. She’s there for a reason, and she has an established role to fulfill.
Not liking a character is one thing. Refusing to acknowledge their established narrative function is another.
The same applies to Sarada being Boruto’s love interest and the romantic counterpart to the protagonist. Some people genuinely seem bothered by that role. 😭 But that’s literally one of the functions a character can have in a story!
And let me make this VERY clear: I’m talking about the OFFICIAL ROLES and NARRATIVE FUNCTIONS of the characters, not whether those characters are being written well or whether their development could be handled better. Those are separate discussions and matters of personal opinion.
Being the romantic interest doesn’t mean Sarada exists solely for romance, either. A character can be the protagonist’s love interest while also having her own ambitions, responsibilities, personal development, and importance to the overall plot.
When an author creates a story, characters naturally fulfill different roles. One is the protagonist; another might be the protagonist’s friend, who supports them and contributes to their journey. Someone else might be the protagonist’s love interest, with their own place in the narrative. Other characters serve as antagonists, secondary characters, or supporting characters who help the story move forward.
Sometimes the author establishes these roles from the beginning; other times, certain aspects develop as the story progresses. Either way, characters don’t all have to occupy the same narrative space or receive the same amount of attention.
And that’s my point.
We need to distinguish between a character’s official role in the story and our personal expectations for that character. Wanting your favorite to become more important is perfectly valid, but that doesn’t mean every character is destined to receive a major arc, become a central figure, or fulfill the role you personally want them to have.
Just to reiterate, this is NOT a discussion about the quality of the writing, how certain characters should be developed, or whether the story could do a better job with them. Those are different conversations.
My point is about where we are in the story, considering the manga’s monthly release schedule and the number of chapters we already have, as well as the established roles and narrative functions of the characters.
So, seriously, how long are we going to keep calling Boruto the “beginning” just because certain ships or characters haven’t received the moments their fans want yet? 😭

Every time someone criticizes the manga or says they don’t like something, Boruto fans will come in with, “Why are you still on this sub if you hate or don’t like the manga ? ” Fans constantly use this phrase as an argument to attack people who don’t like something or don’t like the manga, as if we’re not allowed to criticize it.
Who are these people to tell others what they should do ? A lot of people, myself included, continue reading the Boruto manga because we’ve been longtime Naruto fans and we want to see how the story’s universe ultimately ends. Boruto only takes about 10 minutes to read each month, and we absolutely have the right to criticize it or have different opinions.
If you want a place where everyone spends their time praising Boruto, then create a private platform reserved for obsessed Boruto fans. But stop complaining about other people having different opinions, because it’s becoming unbearable.

Here's all I can think of at the top of my head:
-They both have a crush on someone from the main cast (damning, I know)
-They're strong (physically and mentally) and crazy determined and smart
-Kid Sarada and Sakura kinda have similar outfits
-That's it.
I honestly see her as much more aligned with Sasuke and Naruto, though still 100% her own character.
Her arc throughout the entire manga was her deluding herself over feelings which developed over the course of time. She thought, because her goal was so massive and unreachable, she couldn't focus on anything else in her life, therefore eventually when she did find herself to personally start caring for Boruto, she was wondering if she was even worthy of becoming Hokage, not being able to do anything to help him during the many calamities which took place in the manga. This thinking that she was weak then eventually spiraled into her not becoming as strong as she could, and that's shown and represented in the form of Mangekyo Sharingan. If she never were to embrace her feelings, she could never become Hokage, which is ironic, because the goal of becoming Hokage was the factor making her repress her feelings. Only once Yodo died, did she realize she needed to stop the denial about her own life and feelings, as she realized that was the thing stopping her from being able to prevent these calamities, which lead her to both literally and narratively stop Ryu, the thing representing Shinju, the biggest calamity the ninja world, and Sarada, has faced this far. And after the arc, now that Sarada has changed, can she fully embrace Eida as well, literally and figuratively. There was no fear anymore, no more secrets, just like with Sumire, Sarada had become fixing her own personal life bit by bit before trying to become Hokage, which ironically leads her to becoming Hokage.
Now mind you, this is BARELY subtext. This is explained very clearly throughout multiple volumes of the manga. That's why I don't get the criticism that Sarada shouldn't be focusing on fixing her personal relationships when her dad is trapped, even though fixing her own life is what will eventually lead to her achieving much larger goals, such as freeing Sasuke and becoming the Hokage and protecting Boruto.
As far as I know...Sakura had...well, none of this. Her goals were never huge. Her ambitions outside of Naruto and Sasuke aren't really known. Her character arc is overcoming her dependency of Naruto and Sasuke to stand up for herself. Sarada was never reliant on Boruto or Kawaki, she always stood on her own two feet and pulled her weight. You cannot compare their character arcs, not only because Sarada's is so much more layered, but also because they're entirely different. Even when talking strictly romance, Sakura always had feelings for Sasuke as far as we know, whereas Sarada's feelings organically grew over the course of the series due to the shared experiences and her compassion for Boruto, just like in real life.
Sarada is defiant to the system and is overcoming her own personal fights to achieve something much greater due to her overwhelming compassion for others just like Naruto
Sarada is also willing to throw her life goals away by not being complicit to Shikamaru and being unable to climb up the ranks. This is much more like how Sasuke was throwing his life away for Itachi and doing justice for him (although Sasuke's feelings for Itachi were never seen as a bad thing or something that made Sasuke's character simple, yet for Sarada the same standard makes her a simple character whose entire arc revolves around Boruto (not true btw))
Sarada has feelings and conflict due to them, kinda like Sakura...or any other character in Naruto to be honest, it's not really uncommon.
Like surely you can see she's not particularly similar to Sakura compared to NaruSasu, right?
But of course, if you may educate me on how Sarada is basically the same character as Sakura, I'd much appreciate that, to learn new perspectives and stuff

Considering that this technique was able to catch Orochimaru off guard and given that Boruto is highly agile and skilled in taijutsu it proved effective in completely defeating Naruto in an evenly matched fight.

So Eida can see the Past and every current Event and with Omnipotence she basically rewrites everyone memoires right? So Koshin Kajin can see many possible Futures with Prescience but he sees Futures which are only possible because of Omnipotence from Eida but when we didnt had Eidas Omnipotence the Future would be different, my Question can Koshin Kajin see also these futures? So Yodo didnt had to die when Omnipotence wouldnt be activated or Lord Kobu wouldnt be a threat right now? And also the elders wouldnt react the way they do because after Naruto they saw there we're wrong and know they do the Same old Things they did Wrong in the Past again? Anyways just thinking out loud because Koshin Kajins Futures are only the ones with Eidas Omnipotence so when she reverse this Jutsu maybe we would have another Chance that Konoha wouldnt want to kill Boruto.
