False accusation
My son was falsely accused by another student of sexual assault at a bar. They did not know each other, but had mutual friends. She accused him of two different incidences. The fallout was terrible. He really couldn’t remember much because he had been drinking heavily and everyone believed everything she said, even though no one saw anything. Thank God he called us. So many college students do not reach out for help due to shame and embarrassment. Long story short, we were able to get the CCTV footage from the bar. Not even did he not do the things she accused him of, no one else did either. It seems she lied to make her boyfriend jealous and get attention from people. My son was kicked out of his frat, later reinstated but it was only a matter of before she went to the university and the police. Everyone believed he because why would she lie?Everyone lies that’s why we have to wait for all the evidence. And by the way, I am a woman and I was assaulted by a stranger in college. There are plenty of cases of false accusations out there. my son sued her for defamation and won. The problem is that no one cares about the falsely accused mental health. It caused him suicidal ideation and PTSD. My husband and I have PTSD from all of it too. He did not file a complaint with the university but they knew all about it and they never reached out to him not one time. I’m in this group but I made a throw away account for this. My son does not like to even talk about it several years later. To any of you who have been falsely accused, I genuinely feel your pain and suffering. Our society has degraded so much that we will say the worst things imaginable to hurt another person. I am in no way saying that sexual violence against women and men does not happen. But this rush to condemn the accused has to stop.
