Mission Pro vs Hero 13 Black
Hello! I recently purchased the new Mission Pro due to its 8K video option but.. I feel like I'm doing something wrong! From what I can tell it has less definition and detail at double the resolution? I directly compared the cameras side by side matching settings as close as I can and I am wondering if I am just using some odd settings? So this is the shot from the Hero 13 Black:
The same exact location with the Mission Pro minutes later so same lighting:
So zooming in on the Mission Pro I think very clearly the mountain, balcony, and tree are more waxy:

But is there some setting I'm not using correctly? Like it shouldn't even really be a case that you can sort of make an argument for one over the other - it's literally double the resolution! 4k vs 8k? The Mission Pro should be destroying the Hero 13 black? Full disclosure the Hero 13 black is set to Sharpness High but the same settings on Mission Pro were actually worse than what I've shown here not better - I've tried to give the best possible footage I managed to get from the Mission Pro - and even if there is a "fakeness" to the Hero 13 Black's "crispness" - it just.. looks better and more defined?!
I get that there are lots of other improvements like the frame rates, slow-mo modes, battery life length - but I am finding it really hard to say that if what I want is quality video of the thing I am filming - that I would use the Mission Pro?
This isn't intended as angry or a hit piece - I would actually love if there is something I am doing wrong as otherwise I.. haven't just bought a massive incredible upgrade to my filming potential! Like if I am being a dunce - please school me so I can get an amazing video! If not I'm baffled why you would release a new camera years later when side by side comparisons are just objectively worse?! Like surely someone took videos on both to see if what they were releasing was better? I also sort of don't understand how you'd manage to get less out of double the resolution and a bigger image sensor which is what makes me think I must be missing something?! Or if those things are sort of - marketing spin or whatever and it says 8k but really in some way it isn't quite - I still just come back to - but direct comparisons seem worse - like why release a new camera that is worse?!
Or is there some way in which this is actually better? I can't quite get my head round it. Like even not zoomed in - where, to be fair, obviously any AI/image manipulation looks worse - but even just zoomed out to take the whole frame in it just.. objectively contains less detail?
Like I say - my comments come from dissapointment and a desire to enjoying the heck out of the amazing results from my new camera! So please if anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong - please do so!
