Do you think GoPro will ever update the Max2 with a larger sensor?

I love my Max2 and GoPro ecosystem, mainly because my phone isn't being hacked like with DJI and insta 360 to use their apps. But man, the Max2 struggles so hard if you don't have perfectly clear skys and bright sun.

This thing seriously needs a larger sensor.

I Followed GoPro's Fireworks Tutorial - Mission 1

Worked pretty well I think! Nice to capture our family's 4th of July fireworks show in one go. The camera ran for about an hour (since I started it in advance) and only used up about 25% of the battery.

Trail run with Mission 1 Pro

Still learning all the things the Mission 1 can do. It’s so much fun to experiment with. Handled the early morning low sun and dappled light like a champ. Bonus burst mode slow mo finale!

Mission 1 contacto door grip cage mod FAIL

If you’ve got the Mission 1, a contacto door, and the grip cage, you’ve no doubt discovered that they don’t fit together. The pull latch on the contacto door is larger than the standard door latch, and it makes the cage impossible to close. Not a big deal, you don’t need the cage door on that side UNLESS you (like me) want to take advantage of the portrait orientation magnetic quick mount.

I initially thought I could remove the extra material to get the parts to fit. BUT on closer inspection it became clear that the spring latch pin for the grip cage door lives in the exact spot that the contacto door needs to fit. Since the cage was a free accessory, I did some exploratory filing of the aluminum bits to see if by some miracle I could make it work. Sadly, the latch pin location is a deal breaker for getting the contacto door to fit.

Subscriber discount higher than regular price?

Was just browsing the GoPro site as one does and noticed that the Max2 was on sale at $299. Then I realized that I wasn't signed in, so went ahead and did that and it produced a Subscriber Price of $349. I didn't necessarily plan to buy at this precise moment either way, but for those in the market, might be worth your while to check to see whether the Subscriber Price is actually the best deal at the time that you're buying if that's what you're after

Setting suggestions

Going into the Sahara tomorrow, wanting to do night time sky/star shots with GoPro mission 1 pro. Any suggestions on shots or settings I should use?

I see crazy good timelapse star shots on YouTube, not sure a basic set up can achieve.

GoPro Mission One Pro - Auto Upload “Could not connect to network” after WiFi password (tried everything)

I just got a brand new GoPro Mission One Pro and I’m completely stuck on setting up Auto Upload to the cloud. Every time I try to connect it to WiFi in the Quik app (after entering the correct password), it fails with “Could not connect to network.” For the record, I’ve every single GoPro since the 4 until the 13 and even the Mission One (non-pro). Never had any issue with the cloud upload until now.

What I’ve already tried (multiple times):
• Multiple different WiFi networks (home, friends’, mobile hotspot)
• 2.4GHz networks only
• Reset Connections + full Factory Reset on the camera
• Forgetting the camera in Quik, reinstalling the app, signing out/in
• Updating camera firmware, Quik app, and phone
• Simplifying WiFi password (short, no special characters)
• Restarting router, phone, camera
• Camera is charging during setup
• Different locations
The camera pairs fine with the app via Bluetooth/WiFi for control, but Auto Upload setup always fails at the network connection step.
Has anyone else with a Mission One Pro (or recent Hero/Mission series) run into this? Any fixes that actually worked?

Mission 1 EIS jitters

Folks what's up with the mission 1 EIS jitters in poor light (i.e under tree shade on a hiking track, early morning) . I thought GoPro hypersmooth was supposed to be state of the art. Is it poor on the Mission 1 in particular or is it just like that ?.

Hero 8 Malfunction seeking advice

I bought a hero 8 black a while back And it quit working, so Amazon kindly RMA‘d it. Just yesterday, long out of warranty, she decided to do the exact same thing. I’m wondering if anybody has any solutions? This seems to be a very common problem.

The photo attached shows the rear red light permanently on, with no signs of life otherwise from the GoPro.

if I hold down the power button, it will turn on until I release the button and then come back on roughly 10 seconds after turning off initially.

Any advice is appreciated, thank you!

On another note, no water damage, no weird bumps or drops. This thing has had a great life.

Leaked saltwater

So, I have a Hero 12 Black and I’ve had it for about four years now.
It has worked flawlessly the entire time. I’ve used it for skiing, snorkeling, and scuba diving (with a dive housing, of course).
I’m currently in Cyprus on holiday with my family, and I always bring my GoPro to document the area, as well as my snorkeling and scuba diving adventures.
Unfortunately, this trip has been nothing but bad luck.
I did two dives with the GoPro and got some really great footage. Back at the hotel, I transferred my favorite clip to my phone using the Quik app.
I was really happy and looking forward to my next dives the following day.
The next day, when I turned on the GoPro underwater, I got an “SD card error” message. I tried a few times, but nothing worked. Because of that, I missed the chance to photograph a rare nudibranch we found. That was a real disappointment.
Back at the hotel, I removed and reinserted both the SD card and the battery several times, but still no luck. I ended up buying a cheap SD card from a local shop, and that one worked perfectly for my final dive the next day.
Later that day, I went snorkeling without the camera. Within minutes, I spotted a sea turtle and immediately regretted not bringing the GoPro. I went back to the hotel, grabbed it, and snorkeled for about five minutes. This time I didn’t use the dive housing, since I was only snorkeling.
When I got back to the hotel room, I was about to charge the camera. As soon as I opened the battery door, a few drops of seawater came out from inside the camera.
I turned it off immediately (it displayed a warning about water being detected inside the camera) and inspected the battery compartment. There was green corrosion inside the camera and on the battery contacts.
I carefully rinsed both the camera and the battery compartment with fresh water, but the green corrosion was still visible.
I let everything dry for 48 hours before trying it again. The camera now powers on, but it has “ghost clicks” (random button presses), and it occasionally shows a “No Battery” icon even though the battery is installed.
Do you think the camera can be saved, or is it time to throw it away?
I’m also worried about my original SD card (the good one). Could it have been damaged somehow, or have I potentially lost any data?
I honestly don’t understand how this could have happened. I’m always very careful to make sure the battery door is properly closed before going into the water.
Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas?
