How can I successfully transition into a Disney corporate role? 😡
I’m currently working in Park Operations, but my professional background is in IT. I hold both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Information Technology, along with more than 10 years of experience in the field.
After being laid off from a previous IT position, I decided to join Disney in Park Operations because I believed it would be a great opportunity to become part of the company and eventually move into a corporate role. I thought being an internal Cast Member would improve my chances.
Since then, I’ve applied to countless positions. Out of all those applications, I only received three interviews, and only one advanced to the final round. The interviews went very well, and I genuinely believed I would receive an offer, but unfortunately I was not selected.
I’ll admit that the experience has left me frustrated and questioning whether I fully understand what Disney is looking for in corporate candidates. Sometimes it feels like only people who make every day posts about how wonderful is work at disney on linkedin every day or use make as men or dye your hair purple for the organization carry more weight than qualifications and professional experience alone.
I’m curious to hear from others who have successfully made the transition from Operations to a corporate role. What helped you stand out? Was it networking, internal visibility, additional certifications, leadership experience, or something else?
