So, is Toby Fox actually going to deliver on our expectations?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to say Deltarune is bad at all. I absolutely love this game, and I'm sure everyone here does too. But looking at how Chapter 3 and Chapter 5 threw massive shade at the fandom's theories about Mike, it makes me anxious that Toby might throw a total curveball right when it matters most. Even though it turned out to be great in the end, the secret boss in Chapter 5 was just so heavily gag-oriented that it genuinely caught me off guard at first.

That being said, there are a few things I’m really hoping to see in the upcoming chapters. For one, a battle with Seam after collecting five Shadow Crystals, or a fight against Susie in a 'Side B' route (how hype would it be if we got a remix of 'Vs. Susie'?). I also want to see Mike show up as an actual plot-relevant character, rather than just being a meta-joke at the fandom's expense. Plus, things like having a battle in the Light World with the exact same UI as UNDERTALE. There’s a whole laundry list of things I want, but I’ll stop here.

Is it wrong for me to want these kinds of fan-concept tropes? Maybe I'm just chasing too much 'aura' in the story, but I can't help but crave that absolute peak fiction.

Why I think W.D. Gaster isn't a villain, but a tragic character

In the fandom, W.D. Gaster has long been cast as the bad guy and the mastermind behind everything in Deltarune. But are we sure about that? In Undertale, it's said that Gaster shattered across time and space after falling into the Core during a lab accident. My theory—which I share with many in the community—is that Gaster only ended up in the Deltarune universe after this tragic erasure.

If my take holds true, then his story is incredibly heartbreaking. To be abruptly ripped away from your home and dropped into a bizarre parallel world that looks familiar but is fundamentally wrong... He likely had friends, maybe a family, and he was stripped of all of it.

It just hit me that Goner Kid's lines might be about Gaster all along: 'Have you ever thought about a world where everything is exactly the same... except you don't exist? Everything functions perfectly without you.' This mirrors Gaster’s tragic erasure perfectly—being forgotten while the rest of the world just goes on living.

Now, here’s the real kicker: I think Gaster’s true motive is simply wanting to go home—back to the Undertale world he originally came from. That’s why the Knight, who many theorize is working with Gaster, is focusing so heavily on characters that appear in both Undertale and Deltarune. It’s all about finding a way back.

[Chapter 5 spoilers] I think the secret boss's theme song subtly alludes to the story of Chapter 7.

Apologies if this has already been discussed to death, but I feel like 'Cutie Mew Mew Magic' foreshadows the Chapter 7 storyline. The Japanese lyrics at 0:59 literally translate to 'World massacre, this time underwater.' This 'underwater' theme feels like a direct nod to what goes down in the Weird Route, right?

Plus, the Japanese lyrics from 2:00 onwards—where the freedom motif kicks in—translate to 'Have a deep heart and hold determination.' It brings up 'determination,' an emotion deeply tied to Undertale and Deltarune, which definitely hints at where the story is heading.

If my theory holds weight, wouldn't it be incredibly fascinating? Pink (Mad Mew Mew), who served as a hidden boss in both Undertale and Deltarune, would basically be foreshadowing the events of Chapter 7—the very chapter that will likely unveil the long-hidden connection between the two games.
