Secret in brand new chapters

Guys so currently on my save ive gone through the effort of doing all the secret bosses and areas and stuff to get all the shadow crystals. When the new chapter drops it’s obviously gonna take a bit for people to figure out how to get the secret in the chapter so can I just play for fun when the chapter comes out and then once its figured out just reload the chapter or something to get the secret? will my progress combine or will i have to redo everything i previously did when the chapter came out and I played blindly for fun? Also does reloading a chapter keep all progress made previously or will it be starting me on like a default save or something. Just wanna make sure im able to get all the shadow crystals by the time the game ends thanks

Didn't Deltarune originally suggest you to play Undertale first?

Does it still do that? I remember it did but I can't seem to find anything about it after it made the game get flagged with "in game purchases and micro transactions"

I have a theory that needs to tie into that but i can't find any evidance that the screen exists anymore.

Any and all help is appreciated 👍

Why Can't Kris do this?

Kris' sword can shapeshift into a shield. My question is, can it only transform into a shield? Or are we, the SOUL, Limiting THEIR ability to make THEIR sword shapeshift into other weapons?

Chapter 2 (+Mantle game) foreshadow Chapter 5: Character and Location Parallels Discussion

For this discussion I’m going along with ‘Triple Trucies’ theory (pictures by u/Dakress23), which I believe to be very plausible. u/Darkress23 has easy to follow graphics, in summary Kris truces with Queen, double trucies with Berdly, and triple trucies with Noelle in Chapter 2. This could be analogous with Kris allying with Carol (Queen), Asgore (Berdly) and the Knight (Noelle). It might far fetched at first but it actually lines up well. This theory is an important point for my overall discussion of how Chapter 2 could have foreshadowed major events of Chapter 5. A key to this being Berdly.

Chapter 2 has a significant amount of festival related areas and set pieces, such as the Ferris wheel and carnival games, and the hometown festival is obviously being set up for Chapter 5. Interestingly, you can choose to give Berdly a gift in the carnival game part of Chapter 2 and he will join your team ‘only for this room’. Talking to Ralsei in Chapter 3 and speaking to Berdly through Noelle’s phone in Chapter 4, it’s likely at the hometown festival there will be an option to hangout with Berdly. This possibly foreshadowing if you choose an option like this in Chapter 5 Berdly will actually join your light world team but ‘only for the festival’. This got me thinking if there are anymore instances of Chapter 2 foreshadowing future events in the game.

The basement in Queen’s mansion, the song ‘Digital Roots’ plays. In the mantle games in Chapter 3, after the Ice Palace section you enter a similar basement area, and the song ‘Bit Roots’ plays. Roots having further significance in Chapter 4 with the prophecy of it. My first thought was obviously ‘Roots’ has to do with plants, so this will be a location in Asgore’s flower shop, simple enough with Friend or someone in the basement. But if Triple Trucies theory is true, I’ve thought of something else. There’s a pattern, both times you get to the Shelter or Basement… First get through Queen’s Mansion or the Ice Palace (Glaceir plays and people theorize it has Carols ‘theme’, link below), then the basement where ‘Roots’ plays, then finally shown in the Mantle game the Shelter. There’s a possibility of a Dark World being in the Holiday manor, the ‘Ice Palace’ Dark World.

Evidence for returning to the Holiday manor being, Susie mentions in Chapter 4 going back to recheck the code, there are unopened doors we haven’t been in and finally in the BASEMENT the same sound is played as near the SHELTER LINK. From this I believe there is going to be a second Dark World in the Holiday manor in Chapter 5 (or in Chapter 6), in which will have a basement ‘Roots’ section that will somehow lead to the shelter (have the key codes?). Following Triple Trucies theory (taking it literally): Berdly/Asgore are fooled by Queen/Carol, they work with them but are kept in the dark for their true plan; control of Noelle/the Knight. Queen/Carol captures/over-powers everyone and are sent to Queen’s/Carol’s mansion, so they have time undisturbed to bring the true potential from Noelle/the Knight. Some interesting connotations:

- Noelle wears the cardboard box to disguise from Queen, the Knight bears a helmet (Chapter 4 scene somewhat confirms they wear a helmet they can take off) to disguise their true identity.

- Noelle is already shown to have very strong magic in the Dark World, I imagine her mother would be just as strong or even stronger.

- Interesting to think about the Berdly/Asgore parallel. Their connection with Queen/Carol seems obvious, friendly but being fooled and literally used. With Noelle/the Knight it really depends on who you believe the Knight is.

- Berdly/Asgore find out the true nature of Queen/Carol and retaliates.

- Kris is truly allied with Noelle/the Knight (made the promise). Forced to go along with Queen/Carol and probably feels sorry for Berdly/Asgore (used to have a better connection with both but drifted apart).

- The first appearance of Friend was in Chapter 2.. maybe the first time we really meet them is in Chapter 5 since there are all these parallels.

- This might sound crazy but the Holiday manor basement might literally be linked to the Shelter. Mantle game: Ice Palace - - > Bit Roots Basement - - > Shelter. Chapter 2: Queen’s Mansion - - > Digital Roots Basement - - > Spamton Neo boss fight arena is a train track that leads too..? Chapter 5: Holiday manor - - > Roots Basement - - > Shelter?

- Pandora Palace (Queen’s Mansion theme) and Glaceir (Ice Palace theme) share a leimotif, LINK HIGHLY RECOMMEND this video. I also think the background of Gingerbread House (Holiday manor theme) has a similar leitmotif of 1-2-3-4, but I don't know how to check if the intervals are similar enough.

- The basement might be continually linked to ‘Roots’ as it is the ‘root’ of Kris’ trauma, would make more sense if it was linked to the Shelter.

I know the common theory is Kris, Carol and the Knight all being happy in the same group but it could be a lot more dynamic. I’ve probably interpreted the Triple Trucies theory a bit too literally, it’s hard to draw the line where the similarities end, but you can’t really ignore the analogous festival sections and the Queen’s/Carol’s Mansion, Ice Palace basement mantle game roots significance.

Anyway, what do you think? I’m curious to how the community interpretes this and if there’s anything obvious I’ve missed.

I know who the Knight is

its Asriel god of hyperdeath

Evidence if u care:

  1. We alr know sans is originally from deltarune so cross game characters exist

  2. The two people the knight has tried to abduct so far are toriel and undyne, who in undertale, were both monsters who persisted after death

  3. It says Asgore is "trapped in asylum" in the prophecy and I think the knight will be taking him next as his soul also persisted in undertale

  4. The only way this would be relevant or known to the knight is if they were watching us throughout the entire geno run (cuz undyne the undying) which literally only leaves flowey/asriel

  5. I can't stress enough that this isn't the same Asriel that's at temmie college

  6. The DT extractor is what I think is in the bunker, as with all of these monsters determination, Asriel could once again be the most powerful being in the game

  7. Kinda a stretch but I feel that dark worlds are made out of determination, as you need a lightner who is determined to open one to create one. This leads me to believe that darkners are monsters previously affected by the DT extractor, though ik this is a stretch bcuz they r shown to be objects

  8. If 7 is true, this makes me believe the final tragedy is all determination being removed from the world and all lightners turning to objects

If anyone can find any holes in this theory plz tell me

Are churches open typically at night even with no one there (Church Chapter 4 theory)?

Currently making a theory on a certain someone being involved in the Knight conspiracy (Alvin). Something weird I've noticed is the fact the church is open in Chapter 4 in the rainy afternoon despite no one being present. I'd chalk it up to Hometown just being crazily non-secure, but if you injure Berdly's arm in Chapter 2, the library closes completely and you can't enter it. So places that aren't occupied by the owner are closed down.

https://preview.redd.it/7u2e4gpa5r4h1.png?width=457&format=png&auto=webp&s=b835f28738d4b3108d29efe2d79a2194bca6cc59

I then remembered that Alvin also implies that he's there at night via his claim that Asgore typically prays at night along with what he prays for.

https://preview.redd.it/cwwvwytl5r4h1.png?width=208&format=png&auto=webp&s=929fbb5d269a459c446443667232acd816ea970b

Adding on to that, I might just be projecting my own culture here. But as a muslim, no masjid I've ever visited is open 24/7 to the public, and often the Imam (leader of the prayer) or a trusted individual that watches over it has to lock the door every night.

But to remain objective, I wanted to ask any christians or people who have been to church in general if their LOCAL churches are open 24/7. Much ideal if you happen to live in a very small town as well.

In fact, PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS IF YOU LIVE IN A SMALL TOWN! PLEASE I NEED TO KNOW THIS!

IS DELTARUNE REAL?

I THINK THAT THE PROPHECY FROM DELTARUNE IS REAL. SO, HEAR ME OUT. I THINK I'M KRIS (NOT TO SAY I AM THE MAIN CHARACTER) BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN SENDING MESSAGES TO MY FRIENDS AND I DON'T REMEMBER SENDING THEM, AND THEY ARE VIOLENT. ONE OF THEM IS ABOUT MURDER. COULD I BE THE SOUL AND THERE IS AN INNER KRIS INSIDE ME? COULD IT BE, A FRIEND INSIDE ME? (MY NAME ISN'T KRIS) AND I THINK I HAVE FOUND A SUSIE, NOELLE, AND BERDLY AND THEY ARE ALL IN MY SCHOOL. I ALSO HAVE A SUPPLY CLOSET. I ONCE TRIED OPENING A DARK FOUTAIN BUT I DIDN'T HAVE A KNIFE. I AM NOT GOING CRAZY. AALSO, I MOVE AND TALK WITHOUT ME DOING THIS (NOT ADHD) AND IS THAT MY INNER KRIS WRITING THIS? IDK. AND IF YOU HAVE ANY INFO, TELL ME.

I recently came across this video on TikTok. Do you think the freedom motif only applies to characters who were in the light world? Gerson and Spamton were definitely in the light world, but I don't know about Jevil and Knight...

u/staheldraht_chill — 6 days ago

What was your interpretation of Deltarune's plot and setting before you actually played the game?

Throughout years of ignoring Deltarune and only being exposed to it on the internet, I thought it was a direct sequel to Undertale, because of returning characters, thought Kris was Frisk, and the Dark World was just a criminal underworld literally located in the underground to keep the same aesthetics from Undertale.

New(?) Knight Theory

I don't know if anybody has thought of this or if anyone's ever mentioned it but I have a possibly new theory for the who the Roaring Knight is.

Or in this case, who the Roaring Knights are.

Yes ladies and gentlemen and otherwise, my theory is there are TWO (2) Roaring Knights.

This might seem odd and I know it sounds like im just trying for shock value but I think there is genuine evidence for this.

For one, a common discrepancy among DT players regarding the Knight's identity is their differences in personality between Chapters 3 and 4. Many theorists have noticed that the Knight acts differently between both. 3's Knight is listless and has very slow, serious behaviors. They went into the dark world to grab Toriel and get out and they didnt show the Fun Gang any mercy (besides Kris) whej fighting them.

Whereas in Ch4, the Knight is cocky, confident and even laughs at the Gang. They're constantly aura farming and baiting Susie very intentionally. This is a stark contrast to their behavior in Ch3 where they were very sluggish and intimidating.

My proposal is that these are, indeed, two separate characters wearing the armor of the Knight at separate times in each chapter.

As for who each Knight is: i believe that the Ch3 Knight is Carol (yes, boring, I know, but bear with me here), and that the Ch4 Knight is Rudy.

Now before all the Dess Knight believers jump me, I want you to just hear me out. Dess does have a lot of evidence for being the Knight, but frankly we dont know enough about Dess to really confidently say that shes the Knight.

However I am fairly confident that both Rudy and Carol are each Roaring Knights and there is evidence, both thematically and mechanically within the game.

For starters, in Ch3, the place that we fight The Knight is called the "Cold Place". Now which characrer, specifically is the MOST tied to the theme of ice, snow, and coldness? Carol of course (I mean yeah Noelle too but she's obviously not it). So I think, thematically, its no coincidence that we fight the character most tied to coldness in the Cold Place in ch3.

On top of that, I think that the way that the Knight acts in ch3 also aligns much closer with how we see Carol act, as briefly as that is. Carol as we see her in ch4 is slow, intentional, bitter and gets to the point of what she feels and does without messing around even a bit. A very no-nonsense attitude, naturally. And as I said before, the Knight in ch3 also doesn't mess around at all. They try hard to defeat the Fun Gang, and even if the player is cracked and ends up surviving most of it, Kris naturally eggs her on to just end it since they also know that Carol just wants to get this over with. Hence she puts all of us down and goes back to taking Toriel again. And when Undyne crashes the party, Carol opts to just take her instead. Plus I think its reasonable to assume that Carol would have enough strength to drag Undyne down to the shelter (something that Rudy definitely can't do).

Now as for Rudy in ch4, I would assume that he would take the opportunity to go back to the Church right before it starts raining (while you and Susie are at Noelle's house). After all, the Church and Hospital are less than a block away from each other so he could reasonably just go back and forth when needed (or possibly when told by Carol). Of course, the reason for the Church being a dark world from the beginning is a mystery, but I'll expand on that more in a bit.

Other evidence that could support this is that you cannot visit Rudy or go into hospital at all once it begins raining as the hospital is closed. So we dont technically know whether or not Rudy is there, meaning it could be possible he went back to the Church right when Carol went back home to Kris and the others.

Now another thing that has to be considered when talking about the Roaring Knight is their motivations for wanting to bring about the Roaring. After all, why would a Lightner want to bring about an age of Darkness and nightmares upon the world? Well, I think this ties back to the poor lost girl haunting Deltarune that everybody doesn't know and loves: December Holiday.

Another common theory around Dess' disappearance is that she is quite literally hidden away within the code of Deltarune and is simply wandering around in the darkness trying to find her way back to the light.

So, assuming this theory is also true, how exactly would her parents, who both are also theorized to have distinct knowledge about the dark worlds and the prophecy, try to find her? By going around and opening dark worlds wherever they may find her of course. In her old classroom in Chapter 1, in the computer lab in Chapter 2, and the Church in Chapter 4. All places that are very strongly tied to Dess and even Noelle in some cases.

And if all else fails and they can't find Dess in the darkness within any contained dark worlds, then they'll need to take more drastic measures: The Roaring. If they can coat simply coat the entire world in darkness, then that would surely allow them to find Dess for sure. The rest of the world be damned, they just want their daughter back. That's how they'd see it anyway.

Anyway, that's about the extent of my theory. I'll add more in other edits if I happen to come up with more evidence or note anything else I need to. Feel free to comment what you think and if you think this makes sense or if its a load of crap, I dont care lol. This is my interpretation so far and I think it would be super cool if this was the case. Thanks for reading!

Who else feels chapter 3 should have kept the 3rd board?

I know I'm in the minority, but I really liked the game boards! They were really fun! While I haven't seen any videos of it yet, I know a third board was planned that was scrapped. most people think this improve the pacing of the chapter, but I disagree.

On my first play through, I really did feel the absence of that board. The story after the second board felt like it was rushing itself a bit In order to "get to the point". People have said that they were fatigued by the second board, but I didn't feel fatigued. I was more than willing to go for a third board. Even if the Susiezilla minigame wasn't made into an optional unlockable, the way the charter was structured still would have made it felt like a third board was natural. And the pacing feels a little broken with it's absence.

It ultimately worked out, but I can't help but feel the chapter overall been better if Toby Fox just made the third board as short as felt reasonable, and ignored the advice to cut it to two. I legitimately believe the chapter would have greatly benefited from this. Does anyone else agree?

My Deltarune Theory.

Ok guys this is a long passage so prepare yourselfs. I have a theory that in the Deltarune world, so hear me out ok?

My theory is that Kris is dead. And I believe this because in chapter 1 Kris falls into the dark world but that's when he dies. But the soul takes over Kris and is why after that point we have control over Kris.

Also the dark world is Kris's imagination. I'm pretty sure your like "of course it is, it's an illusion." Yeah but what if it wasn't darker then dark, what if it was Kris's imagination. What if when he goes into the closet he hits his head on something knocking him out causing him to hallucinate.

And for people? Susie is Kris's rebellion, Noelle is Kris's kindness, and birdly is Kris's smarts. Even the bosses are Kris, King is Kris's loss over control, queeny is Kris trying to be perfect, Tenna is Kris's false happiness, and The Titan is Kris themselves, Jevil is Kris controlling the dark world, Spamton is Kris wanting to be free from the Player, The Roaring Knight is Kris fighting back against the soul (which is why the player is weaker against the Roaring Knight) and Gerson is Kris knowing the truth behind it all. And lastly, Ralsei is also Kris themselves, that's how Ralsei knows so much about the soul, is so weak, can go into any dark world, and looks like Torial and Asgore.

And at night is one of the few times we don't control Kris so the real Kris controls themselves which is why they walk so weird.

Also in chapter 3 when Susie talks to Tenna if you do certain actions you can see what Susie tells Tenna and it's exact. That's because for something to happen Kris has to imagine it happening.

Tell me if I'm wrong but there seems to be enough evidence to back me up. Also don't judge if it's a bad theory I was chocking on hot sauce when I thought of this.

Eram and Kris are the same person sort of (Theory)

Okay so I have been thinking a lot about sword route and I came to conclusion that Eram is like Kris Doppelganger. They're something like Finn and Fern from Adventure Time. Okay hear me out.

I think that Eram is specifically that headband with horns that Kris used to wear when they were little. (and I like to believe that Kris lost it when they went to the shelter with Dess thats why Eram in that minigame is specifically in the shelter but that part might be just my imagination lol)

You can get that Eram personality is kinda mischievous I mean just look at them (from how little we get acctualy to see them), Toriel primarily describes Kris as mischievous, Kris has a history of pulling harmless and strange pranks. Toriel also said that Kris is like goblin or skme shit like that I don't remember the exact line (that part of goblin is more important than it is I swear)

Beside that Eram is Kris headband with horns in Dark World they're kind of demon that believed to bring nightmares and sleep paralysis Mare from slavic folklore because you know Eram is Mare backwards and they're saved as nightmare boss in game files so it's kinda obvious.

Why I mentioned that beacuse sometimes Mares were described as goblin like entity and I know it might be just coincidence but we know that Toby analises every text at least 5 times and that dialogues in Deltarune can have 5 different meanings.

After we do Sword Route in the S room there is Rabbick and to my theory that dialogue is very important

"that's funny Kris didn't you already go past?" We all know that it cant be about Susie because I'm pretty sure that you have to be really special to mistake Susie and Kris and what we're left with that it couldn't be anyone other that Eram because who else could it be.

At first I didn't really thought much about that Eram has some sort of fire powers because well maybe they have it because its cool why not. But why Kris wore headband in the first place to fit in with their family because they felt out of place. Mind you everyone in Dreemurr family have fire powers except Kris.

I think Eram is made to represant all that how much Kris actually hate themself and how odd they are compared to anyone else.

Also I once saw someone saying that its freaking weird that Kris has their knife all the time even when they're sleeping, the have it all the time to open fountain and to cut wires in Toriel car obvious but I think it's worth to mention that one of the method to get rid of Mares used to be to put something sharp (knife in the most cases) under your pillow maybe this information is useless but idk I like this coincidence

Also in like 2023 or 2024 (I dont really remember sorry) Halloween fanart by Temmie Kris is dressed in orange and black and c'mon just look at it has to be foreshadowing

Sorry for any spelling mistakes, English is not my first language
