We forgot a whole ass cat when comparing Deltarune to Alice in The Wonderland. And Toby is laughing at us for it. (And while writing this, I realized something and went insane)

Earlier today, I was contemplating how much Mew Mew had been teased over the years, and how easy it is to miss things. ^((Pink Singing Cats, the ghost being interested in Asgore, Asgore becoming a Mew Mew fan. Mew Mew joining Undertale at the same time some famous Deltarune allusions were added. Her looks in the trailer, etc etc))

And that brought me to another cat. I feel we have all greatly missed.

We are always connecting Deltarune to Wonderland. Why with the chess pieces, cards, knights and falling down holes in general.

And when we speak of Cats and Alice in Wonderland, we always bring up the Cheshire Cat. And yeah, for a long while, I looked at Device_Friend, and I could only scream "CHESHIRE CAT"

Similarly. The community has thought about Gaster and Humpty Dumpty. Easter Egg + the Poem.

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king's horses and all the king's men
Couldn't put Humpty together again.

And yeah, both are Lewis Carroll related... But not really connected. I think.

Thing is. ironically, Pink's new dialogue, the one patched in, made me remember there is another cat in the book. One that we often forget cause she is pretty irrelevant. To Wonderland.

Dinah.

The little cat Alice leaves behind. She is barely mentioned. She just gets addressed when...

Alice talks about how great a huntress she is. And by doing so, scares the shit out of the Wonderlanders.

*"She is such a dear quiet thing," Alice went on, half to herself, as she swam lazily about in the pool, "and she sits purring so nicely by the fire, licking her paws and washing her face—and she is such a nice soft thing to nurse—*and she’s such a capital one for catching mice— oh, I beg your forgiveness!" cried Alice again, for this time the Mouse was bristling all over, and she felt certain it must be really offended.

"Our family always hated cats: nasty, low, vulgar things! Don’t let me hear the name again!"

"Dinah’s our cat. And she’s such a capital one for catching mice, you can’t think! And oh, I wish you could see her after the birds! Why, she’ll eat a little bird as soon as look at it!"

Some of the birds hurried off at once: an old Magpie began wrapping itself up very carefully, remarking, "I really must be getting home; the night-air doesn’t suit my throat!" and a Canary called out in a trembling voice to its children, "Come away, my dears! It’s high time you were all in bed!" On various pretexts they all moved off, and Alice was soon left quite alone.

"Nobody seems to like her, down here, and I'm sure she's the best cat in the world!"

Alice even uses the idea of Dinah as a threat "If you do, I’ll set Dinah at you!"

But that is that. She vanishes...

Until Through The Looking Glass.

Won't bother addressing how mirrors and glass and creating parallel worlds through them relate to Deltarune.

Dinah is relevant again. She is described as an old cat now.

And she is a mother to two cats.

Snowdrop (white kitten)

Kitty (black kitten)

The whole plot of the story follows. Best you just read it later cause I can't mention what the cats do. But they do a lot.

But at the end, Alice reflects on the transformations she saw in her adventure and on what her Cats had turned into.

So Alice hunted among the chessmen on the table till she had found the Red Queen: then she went down on her knees on the hearth-rug, and put the kitten and the Queen to look at each other. “Now, Kitty!” she cried, clapping her hands triumphantly. “Confess that was what you turned into!”

(“But it wouldn’t look at it,” she said, when she was explaining the thing afterwards to her sister: “it turned away its head, and pretended not to see it: but it looked a little ashamed of itself, so I think it must have been the Red Queen.”)

“Sit up a little more stiffly, dear!” Alice cried with a merry laugh. “And curtsey while you’re thinking what to—what to purr. It saves time, remember!” And she caught it up and gave it one little kiss, “just in honour of having been a Red Queen.”

“Snowdrop, my pet!” she went on, looking over her shoulder at the White Kitten, which was still patiently undergoing its toilet (grooming/bath), “when will Dinah have finished with your White Majesty, I wonder? That must be the reason you were so untidy in my dream—Dinah! do you know that you’re scrubbing a White Queen? Really, it’s most disrespectful of you!"

So. In Through the Looking Glass. Dinah's two offspring turned into very important characters within the dream. Being transformed as well.

White Cat. Black cat. It is a lot to think about. Sword route maybe even represents the blackcrystal holders as white cats. Of course, the name SNOWDROP points us to something else.

As for the name Kitty. That is hard haha. Black to Red. Which has a strong meaning. And makes me think of Determination.

Which is funny because kitty is not a word the story uses a lot. The Tasque Manager uses it.

Pink sings:

でもDREAMなココロで ぎゅーっとぎゅーっとケツイして demo DREAM na kokoro de gyūtto gyūtto ketsui shite But my dreaming heart is squeezing tight, have DETERMINATION
Cutie's here Cutie's here Cutie's here
Kitty's here Kitty's here Kitty's here
To save you To save you To save you

And yeah, that is one of the few uses of DETERMINATION in Deltarune.
And this is the part of the song. Where the Secret / Battat / Freedom Motif plays.

And the third time is...

Sorry. I am so sorry. I wrote a lot. Doubt most people will read this crap. It's juuust that. Uh.

Cause, this whole wall of text was building up to Dinah. And I was thinking, "oh this will be cute, the big reveal of who Dinah is in Through Looking Glass." and I was so sure. Sooo Sure. Black Cat would easily be FRIEND or related to the SOUL at worst... I would even have time to bring up the Red King.

I mean its such a good stuff. ALICE is talking to KITTY as the story ends.

“Now, Kitty, let’s consider who it was that dreamed it all. This is a serious question, my dear, and you should not go on licking your paw like that—as if Dinah hadn’t washed you this morning! You see, Kitty, it must have been either me or the Red King. He was part of my dream, of course—but then I was part of his dream, too! Was it the Red King, Kitty? You were his wife, my dear, so you ought to know—Oh, Kitty, do help to settle it! I’m sure your paw can wait!” But the provoking kitten only began on the other paw, and pretended it hadn’t heard the question.

Which do you think it was?

Wow, a question of who dreamed what. Good Right? But let's go back. Let's address Dinah.

“And what did Dinah turn to, I wonder?” she prattled on, as she settled comfortably down, with one elbow in the rug, and her chin in her hand, to watch the kittens.

“Tell me, Dinah, did you turn to Humpty Dumpty?"

"I think you did—however, you’d better not mention it to your friends just yet, for I’m not sure."

So. You have it. Dinah. The Cat who scared the shit out of the Wonderlanders. When joining the Wonderland... Became an Egg. One that broke into many pieces. And nobody could bring them back together.

Which was supposed to be the big WHAM of this theory. But, Kitty stole it.

Because the Third. Well, actually the first time we see the word "Kitty". Is that cat Alphys was feeding without ever seeing.

You know. Mew Mew. A name even Pink doesn't use anymore.

Mew Mew, who, as Kris is seeking a partner in the intro, Alphys even says:
* (Don't worry, Mew Mew.)
* (You'll ALWAYS be MY partner.)

You know.

* ... uh? What does she look like...?

* W... well, I've never actually s-seen her, b-but...

* Ever since I started putting out milk, it's been disappearing.

* S... So I'd like to think that there's a cat.

* M... My cat.

You know. That Cat. The one that gets called a Kitty. By Alphys. Specifically in chapter 1.

>* I-It's for my kitty, MewMew! She's a perfect angel!

And who we later find out, that "cat" Alphys had been feeding until chapter 1. Wasn't a cat. Wasn't a Kitty. Was Susie Deltarune.

Susie Deltarune. The girl. Who I linked in the freedom motif part of the song as having Determination. And is here. To save Us...

And who, by using Dinah -> Kitty. I just implied. May be related to Gaster.

AND I KNOW. IT CAN'T BE THAT TYPE OF RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DINAH AND KITTY.

Because obviously Dinah -> Snowdrop isn't mother and daughter in my example either. I HOPE????

But what am I supposed to do? It's too close to the sun. All the connections. And it ends in a god damn Susie Gaster theory. I am done. I am off. I am gone. No more Deltarune theorising for me ever again.

What are your takes on Mantle3/Manhole dungeon of the Sword Route with Chapter 5?

https://preview.redd.it/smbz9uz8ofeh1.png?width=797&format=png&auto=webp&s=f8ffe436c8880c768a4d5373b6acd08c6dd9c026

About the numbers. I was trying to cook something. Though I don't think... I entirely missed it. So I'd like to discuss it with you pals. What are your ideas about this area now that Chapter 5 came out, and, well, it just adds more fuel to this predicting the game in some way.

I will add some of my takes, even if it's all inspired by a failed theory:

Because, counting the entrance into the dungeon as 0, the number of rooms you have to cross to reach the rooms directly related to chapter 5 (The 7 flowers room, the pink singing cat room).

Cross one more, and you get to two rooms I feel are chapter 6 related. One has 4 silent cats, and one pink singing cat. Are we fighting Pink or a cat (Seam?) again? Maybe. My reading is that it represents the 5 shadow crystals. I don't necessarily think slashing means killing in this part of the sword route. It CAN be interpreted as such. But it might not be the case.

Because if slashing is killing, are we killing Pink twice? Yeah, she is a body and a ghost, but ghosts are notably hard to kill if they aren't in a body.

The other room in the main area I consider to be 6, is the area I think represents at least one dark world in chapter 6, the same way the one under it showcased 5. The enemy of the "Ice palace" is implied to be a silver drake.

Using this theory, we'd also reach the "6" room in 6 rooms. While 7 would be breaking free from the game/device...

But of course, I couldn't explain the misaligned 4s and 5s in the page. But I sitll don't feel like I am entirely off. Something about this area almost feels like a checklist of everything you need. "Find Dess, recruit all darkness, get (6?) eggs, get 5 shards, this will be the key to reach chapter 7 / a different fate / some secrete fate."
