Not all managers are equipped to be managers
Been working for a minimum of 6 months now. Currently doing a supervisor role for a start up. My manager does not understand what she is saying. She wants to send out DA's for my people.
Context: We had a heated argument about a new policy she wants to implement. I just want to discuss it as a team and ask for best practices within the team.She thinks that a disciplinary action is a better option rather than a warning.
I was raised from my old manager to be a collaborative person so I want everyones input on ideas before moving forward. I have asked for a meeting so that we can discuss it and do what we can to please the higher ups. We have done our work as our file are now zero to none. So now we do problematic ones that needs to be outreached. Now the problem here there was a call out when it comes to calling. It was big fuss from our client as we are currently advanced with our work and we were told to not rush our work. Now the other head wants us to the necessary follow ups even there was a no alignment discussed to us. ( we don't get typical discussions unless it's a call out )
The problem also is that we are not yet fully functional. We just lost members of our team even though we worked with the most minimal supervision.
Now I try to check with her as he wants to implement something simple yet if no one follows it they will get a DA. So I try to reason out that isn't it too harsh if you give out a DA for something just implemented via email without proper discussion with the team. She then cc'd our director head as if my suggestion was too controversial. I pointed out that we don't need the necessary stress of having a DA. We just need to do our work as our files are really low at the moment. She then told me that my numbers are currently backlogged so I need to the necessary things to complete the tasks. The problem was the person I'm working with is unavailable thru call and email. So I'm having a hard time with my file. I'm not the only one carrying multiple problematic files. We have done our due diligence and we exhausted everything. So if we forgot to input something within the specific time frame we would be given a DA eventhough we have done our part.
