Pan Handlers

I know a lot of people here have good hearts but you should really stop giving to these people begging for your money. One has a sign that says he a homeless vet (hyvee) yet he's not homeless nor a vet, I saw another one drinking at Mugsy's tonight.. if these ppl can hold a sign all day then they can also work. Stop giving them your money or continue to, just know it's NOT going to a good cause.

Young America Realty maintenance fees

Hello my people! I have been going back and forth with YA about erroneous maintenance charges that they've applied to my account & I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue and if they were able to resolve it or if they caved and just paid it? They came in to fix an issue, said it was "beyond normal wear and tear" yet they couldn't tell us what the issue was & applied a charge on our account. We argued the charge so they agreed to do a one time credit but then applied a charge 4x the amount & said they don't have to give any notification or reason as to the charge. They didn't apply the charge until almost a month after maintenance came AND after they agreed to waive the initial charge. It's like they said we'll waive the charge but we'll apply another one 4x the amount just because you won't shut up about it. Now they are saying if we don't pay it, our rent will be considered late and we'll get a late fee. I've read online that the Illinois tenant rights say that a landlord has 14 days to build a charge and they have to give a reasonable explanation but I'm not sure if that is an actual law or not. If that's the case, they definitely did not do that as they did not provide us with an invoice until almost a month later. And the invoice was something that they created on the fly which did not come from the company they claim came in to fix the issue. We have kept all the emails from them and plan on contacting the Attorney General because at this point, it's the principal. I know how they operate, I've read several complaints against them on the BBB recently and I don't plan to give in lightly. I'm just looking to see if anyone has gone through this and if anyone has any advice. Thank you!
