Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?

Has anyone tried Precision Submission Fighting? I’m thinking about enrolling my 8 year old son to help build confidence and coordination and would love any feedback folks might have on this gym or others I might not know about.

Hair Salons & hair dresser recommendations

I’m asking for recommendations because the few hairdressers I’ve gone to and felt cold. In the past I felt like I was an inconvenience to be in their chair. I would be open minded as in what do you think or recommend and so I wasn’t harsh about it. Im not expecting someone to be chatty or upbeat 100%. I understand they stand and talk all day and have their own stuff going on. I just want to feel like welcomed because it’s already vulnerable to get my hair cut, it takes about 3 months to talk myself into a hair cut.

If it helps… white Female, late 20s, thick, curly/ wavy hair.

Bonus points if they do nails as well

Kobe Revolving Sushi Bar

I was one of their first customers when they opened in December a few years back and was ecstatic to see a revolving sushi bar in a town like this.

But after visiting recently, I can't help but feel disappointed as it seems the quality has gone downhill since then. I really want to love the place, but $100(including tip) for two people is a bit steep, especially for the portions and what they choose to put on the conveyor belt. Has anyone else felt like this? I hope I'm not going insane.

Is it possible to live off of 2.5k a month in Bloomington Normal?

Want to leave my city. I am on SSDI but with my part time job I make between 2500 and 2800 a month. Was wondering if I can survive out there on that income? Also, my job most likely won't transfer me so I need to find a new job when I get there.

Im a frugal person. I'm literally a homebody that only goes out when I need to. I do plan on staying with a relative until I get on my feet. I plan on moving this fall, but I want to have my own place by this time next year.

Is this possible? Please be kind. In a toxic living situation and trying to create distance from these people.

I think one of your local businesses is getting scammed right now

Not from the area at all but whoever is running the website for Warwick Shoe Repair I think is scamming them, they are claiming they selling Omega normally worth thousands of dollars for like 300 bucks:
https://warricksshoeservice.com/?s=Omega+&post\_type=product

I’m a firm believer if something seems too good to be true it probably isn’t so I called the shop and it goes to voicemail with the owner saying the shop is closed because he is going through chemotherapy. Anyways I figured if anyone knew the guy, please let him know as I can imagine he is probably busy dealing with his cancer treatment

That Bears Ticket Scammer is Back

Don't buy Savannah Bananas tickets from some rando here. This was my reply and, predictably, I was immediately blocked.

This is a scam. See these posts about bears tickets a few months ago. Same script. See my explanation there and ask yourself with this person is selling highly valuable seats exclusively on a few throughly random subs and not, like, something like the Cubs or Sox subs. The answer is that those subs are heavily moderated.

OP will reply to me with some milquetoast mild sob story then block me so I can't respond.

Food pantries open this Friday?

Was wondering if there are any food pantries open on Friday. It’s the only day I have off this week, and money is super tight after a medical emergency I had.

To move or not to move…

My family and I are considering a move to the Bloomington/Normal area, and I’d love to hear from local residents about neighborhoods and schools that are especially great for families.

I have a daughter going into 5th grade and a son going into 3rd. They are both very sweet kids—my daughter is a bit shy and tends to be more comfortable in kind, supportive environments, so finding a welcoming school community is especially important to us.

We’re currently in a smaller town north of here, and while there are definitely good people, we’re hoping to find a community that feels a bit more open, inclusive, and connected—both socially and within the schools.

My husband attended ISU (early 2000s) and has always spoken highly of Bloomington/Normal and the people there. I’ve also enjoyed visiting over the years, which is what sparked our interest in possibly making a move.

If you’re willing to share, I’d really appreciate any insight—what neighborhoods do you recommend for families? How are the schools and overall community feel?

Thank you so much for any advice you can offer—we truly appreciate it!

Local coffee shops/cafes

I’m just curious what everyone’s favorite local coffeee shop/cafe is in town and how is it different from the others? What drinks make them stand out or which place cares most about quality of their ingredients?

Is Illinois Wesleyan University, a good school?

I’m out of state, so i don’t know about the general reputation it has among the locals, so I would like it if anyone were to give me an idea on whether it’s a good school or not. Anything you know is appreciated, but I would prefer answers to be that of things that you typically can’t find online. (I’ve already thoroughly searched it up). Thank you for reading this far!

Any local mechanics that will allow you to bring your own parts and just charge for labor?

My dad and I usually work on my car (currently 2016 Hyundai Sonata) together. I’d bought some parts that we were going to change together (front strut assemblies, sway bar links, lower radiator hose), but unfortunately now he can’t come visit for another few weeks.

The struts and links could wait, but the lower radiator hose is starting to very slightly leak and I don’t feel confident enough to do it myself. Any recommendations?

To the couple hooking up in our employee parking lot

There is a couple in a red mini van that keeps using our employee parking lot off Guido Circle in broad daylight to hook up. If we see you again, we are calling the cops. It's making us super uncomfortable considering we can literally see in your vehicle, and you made eye contact with a staffer the other day. It's weird. There are better places. Please find them.
