HVAC Head Unit Issues (PLEASE HELP)

So I took the dash apart and completely redid my HVAC box, fixing flaps, adding new actuators, resistors, etc. It's all brand new except the mode door actuator.

After putting it all back together my head units REPEATEDLY burn up, I've burnt 5 head units and have took it to a shop just for them to tell me they have no idea what's causing it to blow up either, I'm at my limit with it.

I've checked to make sure the blower is properly grounded, checked all the wires in the HVAC harness to see if they have continuity (they all do) it's driving me crazy that after all that work taking the dash apart this bum ass control unit is causing me issues, never had any issues with it before the dash removal.

If anyone knows anything that could help, PLEASE let me know.

Why do people do AC deletes?

I see lots of people removing their air conditioning in these trucks, as well as other classics, and I’m having a hard time understanding why.

As someone who daily’s a 97 Silverado and living in the Deep South, having ac is pretty important for me, if not for me then I like knowing that if I have passengers and they do want ac that I always have the option to turn it on for them.

I feel like doing an ac delete on a vehicle that came with it from the factory is disingenuous, I’m the kinda guy that wants to keep the OEM look and feel of a vehicle and for me keeping everything working as it should and did back in the day is important.

(Pretty hard while dailying it though)

Not knocking anyone who does delete their ac, I’m just trying to understand the why.
