The Odisha Government got my Instagram post blocked in India.
The Odisha Government has sent a request to block one of my Instagram posts, and Instagram blocked it in India without giving me any option to appeal.
To be fair, it's not just the Odisha Government. Different state governments have had posts blocked whenever the content didn't sit well with them. But it's still surprising because I'm from Odisha, and I used to think nothing like this could ever happen here. 😂 Then this happened.
The irony is that the original news source(otv & major sources ) is still available online. My post was simply based on that report. As my post got more reach, so they tactically chose to block it instead.
In my opinion, governments should welcome criticism and public scrutiny instead of trying to restrict discussions based on publicly available information. The funny part is, I didn't even criticise them ,it was just a straightforward presentation of facts based on publicly available reports. I was extra careful with the wording because I knew something like this could happen...
