I was never an OG fan of the older sketches, but I got into Smosh when “The Smosh Squad” came in. I watched for years and loved every video, and then suddenly new people got introduced into the cast. I originally didn’t like these cast members and felt the change was too big for Smosh at the time. The members I didn’t like were Angela, Amanda, Chanse, Arasha, and even Trevor. After the initial shock, some of these cast members became my favorites, and I now look forward to seeing them in new videos!!

My point is that the newer fans seem to be going through the same process, yet they are going through it in a different and more public way than older fans did. Not an attack on newer fans, I think it’s genuinely just how the internet has evolved and grown, but it’s still important for the older fans to see the patterns and help the new Smosh babies through the experience we all had back then.

My question is what everyone else in my boat has been feeling/thinking/doing in this new wave of discovery??

This is my Mara. She’s a 3 year old baby, and she was found as a stray. My guy best friend was walking through the woods hours away, and she immediately came up to him and his mother to rub on their legs and get pets. They took her with them, since she was so friendly, and because they were so far away they immediately went to the nearest shelter to ask them to house her momentarily while they got everything together to bring her back home safely (something that is both legal and recommended in my state). My girl was pregnant when they dropped her off, and my bff’s mom was adamant about keeping the litter since she is a unique cat. Unfortunately the shelter put my cat down in her papers that she was fully released to them, and they aborted her litter before immediately fixing her. My bff and his mom came back a good bit later (they were in a super small town and down here it’s pretty common to travel an hour or so for basic needs), and were reasonably pissed. But my bff didn’t know that his mom was planning on housing her with him either way, so when they got back he immediately asked his mom if she wanted to keep her or if she wanted to rehome her. Thankfully she said she wanted to rehouse her, but she was picky on who got her. I got lucky af and now I have the sweetest girl in the world to love.

Now to why her name is Mara! I am a huge Skyrim fan (anybody who plays Skyrim definitely already knew this), and there is a specific quest in the game that reminded me of my cat. This quest in particular doesn’t put you in any harm, and it’s the most beautiful story in the game. The entire quest is about uniting lovers from different ages and times, the first is young love needing to be kindled, the second is bringing long time admirers together, and the last part of the quest is uniting lovers who have been searching for each other endlessly in death. This goddess is the most kind, loving, and compassionate deity in the game, and I immediately thought of her when trying to name my cat. My cat could have chosen to be aggressive, stand off ish, or even hidden all together when she was pregnant as a stray. But she chose to love, and she chose to make it easy on those who could love her to continue on her path with her. I have always wanted a cat since I was born, but I can’t express how lucky I am that she is my first ever cat child.
