What is Ian’s humor?

Hiii i am a very very new fan of smosh and the very first thing i notice is how beloved both anthony and ian are as the founders of smosh and yet i dont find ian extremely likable? idk how to say this without seeming like a jerk 😭 its more his sense of humor in recent videos that make him seem a little bizarre to me

as a new fan the content that i have seen of smosh is mostly after they came back or atleast ian started participating more and the very first smosh crew i was introduced to through recent videos were shayne, courtney, angela, trevor, tommy etc.

so for me unfortunately his crude sense of humor just doesn’t hit? like i would love if he played more into a more mature joke format instead of trying to appeal to the younger crowd by such jokes? idk man i have absolutely 100% respect for him and from how beloved he is within the community i trust that he is an incredibly kind and wonderful person

please do help me change this awful outlook i have on him. bash me and yell at me about why he is loved i truly and genuinely want to get to know him and ill shut up now bye

this is a really stupid question but…

in the most recent assumptions video, they’re talking about Amanda‘s desk… And how she doesn’t do any work at the desk… But like what work is the cast doing? Do they all have additional roles? I guess I’m just confused as to why the cast has desks at this job and what work they would be doing for Smosh besides being talent.

"It is Tuesday, 9PM. Welcome to the Smosh Giggle Room"

Tuesday's TNTL wasn't a normal TNTL or wasn't like the other stand up TNTLs they've done. It was an intentional parody (and very accurate portrayal) of what a mid week open mic night is like.

I obviously understand why so many people disliked it. But as a person who does stand up the whole thing gave me war flashbacks. I've been in that room many many times. The sparse laughs and applause, the awkward intros of the comedians, the mild heckling, comics who alternate between supporting each other when they're bombing and laughing at each other when they're bombing. It was all there.

There's obviously a big "iykyk" surrounding the entire episode and if you've never been in that world it's hard to relate or find it funny. On top of that, the entire thing is supposed to be cringe and awkward comedy which is not everybody's cup of tea.

I found it hilarious because I recognized every archetype as comedians I've encountered in real life in open mics:

Tommy: The one guy who actually has chops trying out (reading) some stream of consciousness thing he wrote while high the night before, halfassing it because it's a mid week open mic and he's getting ready for the weekend.

Damien: The alternative comedian who's trying out some high concept bit designed for a niche audience of nerds and theater kids.

Angela: The comedian who's dared by her friends to go up and read jokes they wrote. Most of them are inside jokes that only her friends get.

Chanse: The newbie comedian who's a few months into doing stand up and is still discovering his voice imitating what he's seen other stand ups do, the type of jokes and the cadence because he's still learning the basics.

Ian: Every open mic needs to have an Ian. I've seen so many Ians. People you root and suffer for.

I saw it through that lens and that's why I found it very funny.

Bit City has turned into Bust City

The latest episode really proves that it hit a brick wall. The City Hall episode was very underwhelming as only Amanda, Tommy & Chanse did 3 characters each to be the “mayor” of Bit City, but meanwhile we thought Angela was the whole time lol. We could have Arasha, Noah, Trevor & Shayne part take in the city hall episode as candidates since they were in different bits. I just hope with the new space & a new direction since Erin Dougal left can keep Bit City going. Otherwise the main channel end ls up as an archive channel.

YouTube did the glitch where it still shows the section titles of the previous video. Can anyone guess what I was watching before assumptions?

It’s not a Smosh video but it’s an extremely well known video from a YouTuber who has been a guest on Smosh multiple times. I’m just curious if anyone will get it— I definitely wouldn’t but I feel like some people will recognize it immediately

It’s unrealistic to want and expect all hits

TNTL, Bit City, and SNL all have the same foundation for me. They all put out what the second one literally states: bits. A lot of the time, you’ll get some hits that grow into something bigger. For SNL, think about how certain sketches spawned movies back in the day (The Blues Brothers, Wayne’s World, and Coneheads, to name a few). For TNTL, you have characters that were born from certain bits, like The Bystander and Gerald Cakes. Bit City is getting close to that level, but I still think it needs to find its footing. This post isn’t really about the hits, though.

It’s about realizing that for every hit, you’re going to have a few misses. People always talk about the golden age of SNL or the early days of TNTL, but they too had their share of duds. It’s utterly ridiculous to think they’ll always be at the top of their game with this kind of content. Truth be told, there has never been a program in this realm that’s been all hits. Key & Peele, Kroll Show, and pretty much every sketch comedy show have all had their fair share of misses.

I could go on for days about this, but I’ll end it here: TNTL, like today’s episode, is going to have its misses, but you’ve got to sift through them and appreciate the hits.

This new TNTL is horrible

The standup one. Like it was painful to go through. I did not even chuckle once. I havent watched TNTL for a while but is this the typical quality now? Like I feel so confused the audience in the video is laughing and its like.... is the joke that they are so bad ita funny? That works maybe once or twice....

Is it just me, or does anyone else not care?

Over the past 4 months there has been an increasing amount of complaints about anything that Smosh is doing. Whether is a show that they have a problem with, the new sets, or a way that a cast member is acting, it just seems as if nobody is happy. I always think to myself, “if you hate it so much, why do you still watch?”

I could genuinely care less about what a set looks like or how a show is set up. I’m so grateful for any content that they release bc it’s my way to escape reality.

Of course Smosh has changed, and it’s going to keep changing, but that’s okay. If you really miss “old Smosh” then go watch old Smosh, it’s still available.

This might stir up some beef but I just wanna see if there’s other Smosh fans like me.

Who let Bailey cook

Man confessions Reddit stories had me excited then they made the mistake of prefacing with “Bailey said this is gonna be crazy”

*talks about cake for 25 minutes*

A guy wants to be a streamer instead of keeping a job (so shocking in 2026)

A guy delusional ab someone wanting him at a bar (again super foreign concept…)

And the last one was ok ig.

Saw someone blame editing for dwelling on a segment too long but who chose the segment? Producers… Bailey… lol. They’ve been good before it’s just crazy and confusing that Confessions of ALL story subs were so disappointingly PG and didn’t feel like confessions at all

I just can't get used to the games studio lighting

I don’t know, I feel like it's jarring. Like it's so yellow it hurts, and the videos for some reason feel fake. I really can't explain it. In the old studio even if the games were shit I still enjoyed watching them, in this one for some reason I can’t enjoy the videos no matter how fun the game is. The other studios are fine, it's just the games channel studio that I can’t get used to for some reason. This is not a hate post, nor am I asking them to change it. I know a lot of people enjoy this new lighting and the studio. I just wanted to vent that's all.

Hot take: the 20 min cake segment is editor's fault.

I, just like most people, doesn't vibe will long drawn out segement of basically rambling about small stuff, like the 20 min cake discussion on reddit story today.

But as a editor myself, my initial response is that "you probably could cut out some stuff there" and not "Amanda dragging agian".

Same with the other critic of someone "dragging" the flow or the tempo of a video, it's probably editor's fault.

I don’t think Amanda has the editorial control over what get keep in the videos, and I bet there are other members that darg the conversations too, they just get cut and make the flow of the video better.

Maybe the editor is a Amanda fan?

Reddit stories=smosh mouth

Has anybody else been feeling like Reddit stories is basically smosh mouth with a topic now? I get that they are obviously the same people but it used to actually be about the Reddit stories and now it’s just 95% side tangents and trying to do bits. Today’s episode was horrible with that. 25 minutes on one story that wasn’t even that interesting.

Before anyone gets the wrong idea I do like smosh mouth and listen to every episode but I don’t think they should be so similar

Cory Midgarden’s first Smosh post

New era begins. Also, loved that Amanda Barnes is part of the exec team and Kiana slays every post.

D&D Channel

Can someone help point me in the direction of some fun D&D channels that are similar to smosh’s D&D series? More so comedy focused than serious gameplay? I really enjoyed watching that as someone who hasn’t really ever played D&D.
