It's rare I can sit through a full video anymore, I end up just watching compilations now because it doesn't feel the same. I can't figure out what's different. Does anyone else feel like this?

I have never posted here before and I’m a newish fan (from beginning of this year) however I have binged watched almost years worth of content (don’t even I know) and genuinely enjoy almost all content they put out

Since rediscovering smosh now they have a whole cast I wanted to see if any Reddit communities existed and well I found this place
One thing is, everyone here fucking complains

Channels change, content changes, people change, etc etc and grown adults are having small temper tantrums about it all?
“Angela should stop playing video games” “videos are too long” “don’t post the videos I like anymore”

Why don’t people just not watch it then?
If you’re not a fan of the new content or dynamics I don’t understand putting yourself through entertainment you’re not enjoying?

I know some gaming videos aren’t for me so I don’t watch them and watch one I do like, if I don’t like a certain line of the cast I won’t watch it

Genuinely confusion from someone who just stops doing shit I’m not enjoying

Probs won’t comment back to people bc I’m sure I’ll get slaughtered, just thought with how positive the channel is so would the community but I was so very wrong

Sometimes watching Smosh videos feels like I'm scrolling Reddit, or maybe my Instagram for you page.

Like when you're listening to Smosh Mouth and they repeat a long debunked food myth that Fitness Influencers spread to fearmonger, or when Amanda said they had to get Brie Larson to stand in for Tom Holland's ass, which is an Incel meme about Brie Larson not being sexy enough.

I also feel like a lot of the time, especially with the latest Reddit stories, they get very in to those stereotypical "dumb man no know flowers" type boys vs girls discussions, like Men will sometimes get a free pass to be dumb or assholes because that's how it be and you should talk about it and explain like he's a child and not like you're 2 human beings. I know they're definitely joking in some videos, but it really rides a line of completely excusing some men's actions.

There is also the other side of the coin where they get very "ALL WOMEN ARE QUEENS!" often but honestly I find those less aggravating unless it's a very extreme example.

I get they aren't doing a lot of these things intentionally, but it will feel a little icky sometimes and I have to stop where I am in the video for a minute

I've been some post lately about Smosh's Golden era ending or their new videos not hitting the same. I think just because you find the content getting stale doesn't mean they, as a collective, are past their prime. If you mean it as a matter of personal taste, thats one thing. But people word it as a general truth and I think its a bit unfair. Someone whose a newer fan could be watching their recent videos thinking their absolute bangers while an older fan who's been watching for a while might be a bit burnt out from so much smosh content and feel that those same videos are getting boring. We all have different ideas of when smosh was at their peak, I think it all really depends on the person watching.

Nothing long, just an opinion.

2024-2025 was the prime of Smosh especially games and smosh mouth. A lot of iconic lines, scenes, bits, and more.

edit last minute : current Smosh still amazing, but there's a lot of videos I've been skipping. Maybe it's my busy life, and/or maybe it's less interesting for me. Keyword sentence : FOR ME

Like most buzz words, “parasocial” is getting out of hand.

It is not Parasocial to wonder if an actor left a show or not. That’s their job. That’s the thing we, fans SHOULD care about.

I’m not asking for a deep dive into why, or even a reason, but I do think fans deserve a, “Hey, I’m not longer with Smosh, here is where I am now!” This wouldn’t be weird if it was a “regular” tv show

People pay money and give their attention to the performer so when the performer disappears, the people are rightfully confused.

Parasocial would be me thinking I’m owed her life story.
