Macau's population density is three times that of HK, but it feels nowhere near like it and at times - empty.
| Attribute | **Hong Kong ** | **Macau ** |
|---|---|---|
| Total Population | ~7.4 million | ~720,000 |
| Land Area | ~1,100 km² | ~33 km² |
| Average Density | ~7,000 people / km² | ~22,000 people / km² |
| Global Density Rank | 4th overall | 1st overall |
the only place I find it crowded is near the Ruins of St. Paul's (it's not even that bad to be honest) and really other than that I find streets of Macau very very walkable and don't feel claustrophobic at all. Residential areas in both Macau side and Taipa had a lot less people on the street. streets in Cotai are nice and wide and I find that area super chill.
But on the other hand I find the streets of HK to be polar opposite. not to mention Kwun Tong (my least favourite busy area), Mong Kok, CWB, even in residential areas, there's just people everywhere on the street. SO MANY PEOPLE. SO SO SO MANY PEOPLE. everywhere I go there are people.
I wonder what the reason for this is and if anyone else feels the same..
