Skiathos and Skopelos delivered! Early May trip report
Stayed 3 nights and 4 days early May 2026 in Skiathos at Thalassa Cape Hotels in Megali Ammos beach. Highly recommend this hotel by the beach with great included breakfast and walking distance to town (10 min)
Pictures 1-4 are Skopelos, 5-6 is view from Mamma mia church, 7-9 are from Skiathos, 10-11 are Kastani beach
TLDR highly recommend Mamma mia boat tour with Poseidon (booked at port) this was the best day
Day 1
- Arrival via Athens to Skiathos flight, short 30 min flight
- Chilled at beach hotel and grabbed dinner at Mesogia Taverna which has the best restaurant by far in our trip. Super friendly staff and great greek food and excellent price
- Walked thru alleys and port and booked next two days of boat trips
Day 2
- Plan was to go to Lalaria beach but it was not accessible that day due to weather
- instead went to Tsougrias island which was pretty mainly because of the small church at top of islans that has nice view. But Megali Ammos beach was similar and had more options
- Nice part is that beach/island was very much empty and only for a few people
- used water taxi for 10 euro round trip per person
Day 3
- Wen to Mamma mia boat with Poseidon boats it was 50 or 55 euros per person and included: 1) Mamma Mia church, 2) Stop in Skopelos town and 3) Kastani beach
- Trip was amazing and highlight of this small 3 day part of the trip. Favorite part was Skopelos all the colorful and peaceful alleys. Streets almost empty
- Kastani beach was also great and super clear water
- If I had more time I would probably stay in Skopelos and stay more time there and also make it to Lalaria in Skiathos
Day 4
- Morning breakfast at hotel and enjoy Megali Ammos Beach until departure
- We flew back to Athens to take another flight to Santorini but that may be another post
