Gen 3 Duke 250 – Skip KTM Service for Better Oil? Is the Warranty Worth Keeping?
I own a Gen 3 Duke 250 that I bought in January this year. The first service was done in early February at around 1,100 km, and the bike has now covered about 6,000 km.
The main issue I’ve been noticing is a significant amount of vibration between 4,000–5,500 RPM. It’s consistent across all gears, and I can clearly feel it through the footpegs and occasionally through the handlebars as well, even while wearing proper riding gear.
The KTM service center near me uses HP Prolube semi-synthetic oil. I’m considering getting my next service done at Indimotard Adventures (Hoodi) instead, as they use premium oils like Motul or Liqui Moly, which I hope might reduce the vibrations.
The downside is that servicing outside an authorized KTM service center could affect my warranty.
For those who own KTMs or have been in a similar situation:
How valuable is the KTM warranty in the long run?
Has anyone noticed a meaningful reduction in engine vibrations after switching from HP Prolube to Motul or Liqui Moly?
Would you keep servicing at KTM for the warranty, or go with a trusted independent workshop for potentially better service and oil?
I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences before I make a decision.
