Working on a case for a piece of equipment and I forgot to include space for an adjustment stem. I accept that I am going to take the design down to base sketches (before I projected an offset to create the outer wall dimension) to make the correction in the originating arc, re-project with offset, re-check the points to close the body, and re-extrude.

My question is (for future reference): is there a way to add this protruded keyway to the existing body as it is? I suspect this won't be the first time I make this mistake so knowing how to correct this in a more time-effective manner seems like a good idea.

Sloppy MS Paint work to show what I'm trying to accomplish. Red is the new solid body, after the change, and yellow is hollow. Outer sketch is a 3mm offset from inner sketch geometry.

garbage MS paint job

Other edit - the method I described above worked but I can help thinking that there's a cleaner, more direct way to accomplish this task. Finished work below.

fixed, the long way around
