So you now pay $90/month for Autodesk to remove features??

I have been a LONG time fusion user. I have been using it almost every day for my career for 8 years. Since I have started using it the price has increased 3x what it originally cost. I am ok with this as long as it means more features, fixes, support, and so on... What I am not ok with is that they start to remove features and put them behind extra paywalls. Arrange used to be a feature that was available in the Modify tab inside the design area. Then they tried hiding it in manufacturing. Now it isn't available to me unless I shell out another $30+/month? What the actual F***? I am getting to the point where I just want to be able to export my decade worth of projects and jump ship to Solidworks, which my job actually pays for.

I'm sure I will get a lot of criticism for this post but I don't care. I just feel like it's really unfair for a company to keep jacking prices up while also removing features that used to be part of the cheaper version. I love fusion but at some point it just isn't worth it anymore...

Edit... I am an idiot. I had my project set to Part Design and not Hybrid. Just updated to Hybrid Design and arrange is now there. Thank you those that helped me out.

Fusion apparently has a hidden dark gray theme!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiNlZmuMu0s

I was bored the other night and was poking around at the Text Commands in Fusion to just see what all was there.

One of the commands I stumbled upon is Debug.showThemeConsole. This opens a little window that has a couple different theme options and one of them is a dark gray theme!

If you want to try it you can paste this into the text commands Options.Set WeaveTheme weave-dark-gray. It doesn't persist Fusion sessions so I created an add-in that applies it when Fusion launches.

BE CAREFUL if you decide to explore the other operations!!

I thought it was an exciting little find and wanted to share!

Need some help following out a fuselage

So I'm 3D printing this glider I'm designing and I need to hollow the fuselage out so the walls are only 0.2mm thick but standard shell techniques aren't working and is causing an error. Also I'd prefer to have the selected faces a hole but I can always do that later. Would really appreciate some help as I've been on this for a while, anything helps, thanks!

Extrusion Help?

So, I'm still somewhat new to the Fusion/CAD world, to throw that out there. I've been having chatgpt help me, and honestly, it's just making me run around in circles I feel. Probably could've spent the hours messing around with that watching videos and tutorials, but I digress.

I'm designing a Garmin Edge GPS mount to mount on the upper rear shock link on my Santa Cruz Heckler e-MTB. Don't mind my shitty 3D Scan of the link, I didn't think it needed to be perfect for this.

I pretty much have it all done, except for the slanted sides of the trapezoid base that sits in the pocket of the suspension link. I can't figure out how to create a profile that matches the pocket, well I mean I did, but Drafting it down the plane of the slanted sides didn't work how I wanted it.

The first pic shows the full link/mount combined, you can see the sides of the base are selected and blue. The second pic is after I created a profile for the curvature and gave it a 5mm extrusion. The 3rd pic is after I used a Draft function, you can see it looks janky. The last 3 pics just show the profile of the pocket.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I could leave the trapezoid base the way it is, but I'd like it look more OEM.

How do i pull in specific sides of a body/extrude at a weird angle?

I am trying to make basically two triangular prisms that extrude at weird angles, but I can settle for just figuring out how to pull this side in. This is for school and they are going to clown the fuck out of me if I ask this now

I built a CAM/CAD app because everything else annoyed me — here’s what it can do

I’ve been working on a CAM/CAD app for a while now, mostly because every tool I used kept slowing me down or forcing me into workflows that made no sense. So I finally snapped and built my own.

The whole thing is real‑time. You move geometry, it updates instantly. No sketch modes, no “finish sketch,” no regenerating half the model because you changed one dimension. It feels way closer to actually shaping something instead of babysitting a CAD program.

On the CAM side, I added a bunch of logic that helps instead of getting in the way. It suggests toolpaths, predicts collisions, auto‑builds roughing/finishing passes, and points out weak geometry before you commit to anything. It’s not “AI magic,” it’s just smart enough to stop you from doing dumb stuff or wasting time.

Everything updates live. Change the model → toolpaths update. Change the toolpath → simulation updates. No rebuild buttons, no dependency chains exploding because you nudged a face.

Performance was a big focus too. Geometry, slicing, material removal — all of it is GPU‑accelerated and reacts instantly. It’s the first CAM/CAD setup I’ve used that doesn’t break my flow.

If anyone wants to see it, I can post videos or GIFs. It’s way easier to show than explain. And if you’re into machining, CNC, CAD, robotics, whatever — I’d actually love feedback. I’m trying to make something that feels modern instead of stuck in 2005.

If you want to try a demo build, just say so.`

How do I cut this pattern out of my model?

I've seen plenty of examples online of cutting patterns out of thinks like vases, but all of them are a consistent shape on the z-axis. I understand the root of the problem I'm experiencing, the rounded shape means the pattern isn't applied evenly, the same way a flat sticker doesn't apply well to a rounded object. However I'm not sure how to overcome this issue. Maybe starting with lofting my object before cutting out the pattern is where I'm going wrong...but can I cut the pattern out first then apply a loft after the fact? Any help in how to accomplish this from folks with more experience would be greatly appreciated!

Help with an irrigation system.

I want water go in from the top of this part and when the water gets poured down from above and needs to flow both ways and I want to have the middle part at the bottom curve a smooth 90 degree angle on both sides so the water gets pushed to both sides but I don’t know how to do this, I have a sketch on the left of what I want the middle part to look like.

I can model this normally but need help with parametric modelling

Blender knower and Fusion apprentice here!

I started working this with geonodes in Blender, the parametric shape was pretty simple to do with a sine wave, but everything else is really hard. So I switched to Fusion since I have to learn it anyway.

I'm trying to recreate this knob with parametric properties, I can make one from scratch with correct dimensions, but I'm completely stumped on how to do this parametrically. I'd like to be able to control how many and how large the teeth are, everything else I think I've figured out.

I've tried creating a cylinder shape and controlling the amount of teeth/notches with a property via circular pattern, but that feels clunky and doesn't really work properly, I've tried looking at how to make gears but all of tutorials just point to the add-in which doesn't help.

Ideally i'd have the editable shape at sketch phase, so I could just fuse the sketches into a solid shape.

Any tips?

Edit: Thank you everyone! A lot of good suggestions and tips!

Bevel gears are the worst things ever to design

I have spent hours following tutorials on how to make 90* bevel gears and im so sick and tired of it yall, please does anyone have an actual easy tutorial or an addon i can use? im sick of it

How do I make this cut?

I want the top of each face to be an arch, but a simple extrude, strait on an axis or to the opposite fece, leaves the edges weird. I have tried multiple approaches both before and after rounding the corners and I can't figure it out. Any help is appreciated!

2 Questions ⤵️

I want to make an irrigation system for a circular large planter that I can fill with a water bottle but I want to make holes going across the whole circular pipe, so I thought could use the circles in the middle to extrude out all at the same time to make holes but I can’t do that so I need help with that. Also, how do I hollow out the circular pipe? I want the water to flow all the way around from a water tower I will model. I don’t know if this will work but I’m still new to fusion.

From 3D to 2D

Hello, my fellow Fusion people!

I work in the textile industry, which is mainly 2D, but now I’m involved in a project that has a 3D model, and I need to turn it into 2D so we can cut it on a CNC and sew it together.

At the moment, I have a body full of curved components that need to be flattened!

Ideally, I’m looking for something like Explode, but that only explodes the body and doesn’t flatten the individual components.

HELP! 😅

Any ideas on the best way to do this?

Learning Complex modeling in Fusion for new product design

Hi Reddit! I used Fusion to work through a few advance modeling tutorials designed for the Solidworks guys. I have the full native Fusion models available if you wanna give them a try :) Here are the links to the Learn Solidworks videos that I used

**These videos are freely available on YouTube and offer a great challenge to learn from.

Create a semi circular extrusion

Building a plug, and this slot in the knob is a semi circle (think a coin fits in there to help turn it). How would I go about extruding that as a circle? I'm not sure the second photo of the real plug you can see, but a coin would fit in there. I know I probably don't need the circular shape, but I'd like to learn how to do it. Any help would be appreciated.
