32% turnitin similarity score
Posting because i genuinely can’t tell if I’m being paranoid or if I should actually be worried.
I just submitted a take-home exam (had an extension, submitted minutes before the deadline so I’m probably the last to submit). Similarity score came back at 32% and it’s really been worrying me.
it’s not coming from a bibliography, citations, or a title page. There wasn’t anything like that to do. It was a take-home exam answering specific questions, so the entire 32% is from the actual content of my answers.
I didn’t copy from anyone, I don’t really even know anyone on my course. I worked through it on my own using the text book and lecture notes. The biggest chunk is 24% submitted to my own uni and spread across 20+ different student papers from the last two weeks, each contributing like 1-3%. From other people in my cohort who submitted before me.
I filtered for matches over 30 words and it dropped down from 24% to 14% so most of it is short fragments but then again 14% does still seem quite high.
Im aware that everyone uses the same textbook, definitions, equations etc. and they can only be phrased so many ways but i cant help but keep imagining getting an email saying I’ve been accused of cheating.
Any reassurance or similar experiences would genuinely help right now. Or if you think i should be worried, I’d rather hear it
