Issue with a drain cap

Hey, I’ve run into an issue - my outdoor hot tub has a built-in automatic pop-up siphon drainage system with a cable (like in the picture). When you pull the knob toward you, the siphon cap rises (at the bottom of the tub) and drains the water. The problem is that while the hot tub is empty or has very little water, the lifting mechanism works fine, but if it's filled up for normal use, the siphon cap won't rise.

The hot tub was bought brand new and this problem has existed since day one. I just didn’t pay much attention to it at first.

I checked the cable and connections - everything seems to be in place. I also tried turning the screw on the lifting cap (to raise it higher), but no position solved the problem (and as soon as I raised it even slightly, it lost its seal and water began to leak out).

Has anyone encountered this before? Where should I look for the problem? Or should I just buy a new siphon part?

Meta fake offers

Hey everyone, just wanted to put out a warning about Meta’s subscription retention tactics because I just got blindsided by a really shady billing practice.

I have a Meta Horizon subscription and decided to cancel it a few days before my billing cycle was supposed to renew. When I went to cancel, Meta threw up a pop-up offering me a "free month" if I stayed. It seemed like a good deal, so I accepted.

Well, I just checked my bank account and they charged me anyway. When I looked at my subscription status, they have my next billing date set for 16th of July. Meaning, they didn't give me the upcoming month free - they forced me to pay for this month and postponed the "free" month to the next cycle.

There was absolutely no clear indication during the cancellation flow that I was going to be charged immediately. Normally, a free month offer stops the immediate next payment. Postponing it until after another paid month feels incredibly deceptive.

Has anyone else run into this? I’ve already reached out to support to demand a refund.

Actually, this is typical example of wild capitalizm - fuck them and their methods - that's simply unfair.
