Shooting with two hands.

This skill gives the player significant bonuses to attacks.

It increases the chance of critical hits

and reduces weapon spread.

It also includes a laser sight,

which helps with aiming more accurately.

Wobbly charging port.. gets my Quest 3 to spam the “bop-ping” charging audio que when playing games, and won’t allow the Headset to charge properly. Is there a way to fix that?

It started off as a little quirk my headset would sometimes have. It would disconnect the charge for a millisecond and then reconnect properly. But it’s gotten worse since then. I realized the charging port got wobbly and could tilt side to side, so depending on the position of the cable it would either charge or not — which was annoying to the point where it started spamming the “bop-ping” connect sound like 30 times a second. Right now it’s even a struggle just to turn the headset on, because it has trouble charging that one percent.

I already tried cleaning the port, no luck. Tried a different cable too, but it still wobbles. Looking at the prices for a new Quest 3 charging port scared me off, so I’m wondering if there’s a way to fix this without spending 100+ euros.

Should Meta try to go “all in” again with VR and capitalize on the struggling console and regular gaming market?

Console sales and regular games have been seeing massive year over year declines with sales hitting record lows in recent months. The real reason is unknown although price is a huge factor, not only that but the PR got worse when Sony announced no more physical games.

It seems like Console gaming has hit a wall and the excitement just isn’t there anymore. Maybe now is the time to re ignite the VR marketing and hype machine and see if they can regain momentum. Maybe lower the price to $399 and go on a marketing rampage.

Oculus Home Preservation Efforts

Since the start of this year, I have been periodically combing through old install files in the Oculus client to make a collection of assets to preserve and I found the most latest Home 2 assets dated before it was removed from the Oculus client years back.

These assets were ripped and submitted onto The Models Resource: https://models.spriters-resource.com/pc_computer/oculushome/

The wave of assets submitted includes all of the decorations and objects*, all the sound effects, the wall, ceiling, and floor textures, and the environment cabin models. The assets are also named accurately to what the editor menu would have shown. Different versions of Home 2's install files have been preserved on archive.org.

Added bonus: the entire sound library was also preserved on archive.org.

This effort comes in the light of my enjoyment from using Oculus Home worlds during its lifespan. I've always liked creating my own chill zone after a VR session to watch content or visit some of my friend's worlds. Those were the Rift CV1 days. I have not come across any other VR experience that has such fidelity and atmosphere.

How do I get on my Quest 2 after factory reset with only one controller?

I'm giving my boyfriend my old quest two, and the left controller is busted. I factory reset it and realized now I can't get in because I only have one working controller. I have no PC, what do I do?

My Oculus Does This Strange Thing Where It Freezes Games Just From Turning My head

I genuinely have no idea why it does this stuff. It’s been going on for ages and ages. I dunno if I just got a trash headset or if this is fixable. It does this with most games on my headset, which is a Meta Quest 3S. If someone knows how to fix this, please help.

🛠️ THE ULTIMATE GUIDE: Lambda1VR - Survive Black Mesa in VR! (Pure Realism Mod + Max AI Graphics) 🛠️

This guide will teach you step-by-step how to completely transform the original Black Mesa trilogy (Half-Life, Opposing Force, and Blue Shift) on your Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S. We will turn the classic game into a hardcore realism, tactical, and high-stakes survival experience while upgrading graphics, lighting, and textures via Artificial Intelligence—fully optimized to completely eliminate slow loading screens.

🚨 MANDATORY PRE-REQUISITES

Before starting this extreme modification, you must meet the following requirements on your Meta Quest 3 / 3S:

  1. Base Installation: You must already own and have installed Half-Life 1 along with its two expansions on your PC.
  2. Lambda1VR Launcher: The VR port must be correctly installed and fully functional on your headset via SideQuest.
  3. Initial Files: You must have already transferred your original game folders into the xash/ directory on your Quest's internal storage.

⚡ Optimal SideQuest Settings (Maximum Clarity & Visual Quality)

To squeeze every bit of power from your Quest 3 / 3S processor and achieve crystal-clear sharpness without dropping frames, connect your headset to your PC, open SideQuest, and apply the following parameters in the graphics options section (the wrench icon):

  • Chromatic Aberration: Set this strictly to OFF. (This removes the annoying color fringing/blur around the edges of the lenses, achieving pure image clarity).
  • Default Texture Size (Resolution): Set this to 2048 or 2560 (Quest 3 handles this easily).
  • Foveated Rendering: Set this to High or Dynamic.
  • CPU & GPU Level: Set both to Level 4 (or Unlocked / Max Performance).
  • Refresh Rate: Choose 90Hz for optimal smoothness in Virtual Reality.

💀 SECTION 1: PURE REALISM MOD (Hardcore Gameplay)

(Can you survive Black Mesa?)

Forget the arcade experience from 1998. By using Artificial Intelligence to recalculate the parameters inside each game's skill folder, we have designed a hostile environment where every single bullet counts and danger is absolute. Note: All in-game menu difficulties now default to Realistic Hardcore, so it doesn't matter which one you select.

🧠 Key Survival Mechanics:

  • Realistic Caliber Damage: Bullet wounds are now accurately calculated based on the projectile's caliber. A single positioning mistake will be fatal.
  • Armor Hierarchy: Your damage resistance depends strictly on your character's gear:
    1. Barney (Blue Shift): Only wears a standard Kevlar bulletproof vest. The most vulnerable protagonist of the trilogy.
    2. Adrian Shephard (Opposing Force): Equipped with the military-grade HECU Powered Combat Vest. High damage resistance.
    3. Gordon Freeman (Half-Life): The HEV Mark IV suit is the pinnacle of Black Mesa technology, offering the ultimate protective shielding.
  • Localized Damage (Hitboxes): Added limb and headshot base damage modifiers. Landing shots matters now; taking a bullet to the head means instant death. Aim wisely.
  • Fatal Shockwaves: Explosions now deal massive drop-off damage based on distance. If you are anywhere near a grenade or missile blast radius, the pressure wave will liquidate you instantly.
  • Xen & Race X Bestiary: Alien monsters are faster, deadlier, and far more aggressive than ever before. They will show no mercy.
  • link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fYZ3Pgc4pXvKHj2FGASSGpxqIPgAQnne/view?usp=drive_link
  • hl1 is half-life. hl2 is opposing force, hl3 is blue shift

These tactical parameters are pre-baked into the difficulty files inside the corresponding game folders:

  • valve (Half-Life 1)
  • gearbox (Opposing Force)
  • blueshift_unboxed / bshift (Blue Shift)

📺 SECTION 2: GRAPHICAL UPGRADE (High-Quality PS2 Models)

The first visual step is replacing the low-poly models with the official high-quality assets originally developed for the PlayStation 2 release.

📥 Download Links:

🛠️ Model Installation Instructions:

  1. Extract the contents of each downloaded file on your PC.
  2. Open the resulting model folders and delete all files starting with v_ (e.g., v_9mmhandgun.mdl). Reason: These view-models conflict heavily with the VR hands and weapons included natively in Lambda's Weapon Pack.
  3. Connect your Quest 3/3S to your PC via a USB cable.
  4. Copy the remaining models into their respective game paths on your Quest's internal storage:
    • Internal Storage / xash / valve / models /
    • Internal Storage / xash / gearbox / models /
    • Internal Storage / xash / bshift / models /

Once installed, you will have much higher polygon models perfectly compatible with Lambda1VR.

🎨 SECTION 3: AI TEXTURES & LIGHTING WITH ULTRA-FAST LOADING

To achieve hyper-sharp environments, we will use the acclaimed texture mod Half-Life: ReSrced HD, which utilizes neural networks to upscale the original game art.

in the folder materials you have to delete the folder models and only keep the common one with the textures.

⚠️ Handling the Mod Files & The Loading Screen Bottleneck

When you download the Half-Life: ReSrced pack, you will find several directories. Go straight to and only use the folder named step4.

Inside step4, you will find the 3 main trilogy folders:

  • 📂 valve (Half-Life 1)
  • 📂 gearbox (Opposing Force)
  • 📂 blueshift_unboxed (Blue Shift)

¡CRITICAL ATTENTION HERE! Inside each of these three folders under step4, you will find both the materials folder and other essential mod directories/files (such as gfx**,** models**,** sound**, etc.)**. Do not leave them behind.

By default, the materials subfolder incorporates thousands of loose image files in .tga format. On standalone headsets, scanning thousands of uncompressed .tga files creates a massive storage bottleneck, inflating loading screens to 45 seconds per sector. To fix this, we will bulk-convert the materials folder of each game into the .webp format (reducing size by 80% while keeping visual fidelity perfect to the human eye in VR) and then install the whole package.

🛠️ Step-by-Step Conversion & Installation Guide:

  1. Copy to your PC: Temporarily move the internal subfolder named materials from each of the three games in step4 over to your Windows desktop. (Keep the main step4 directories open on your PC, as we will put the optimized assets back in shortly).
  2. Install XnConvert: Download and install the free utility XnConvert (Official Website) on your computer.
  3. Configure the Input: Open the program, go to the "Input" tab, click "Add folder", and select the materials folder sitting on your desktop.
  4. Configure the Output exact settings: Switch to the "Output" tab and apply these exact parameters:
    • Folder: Select "Save in same folder as original file".
    • Filename: Type strictly {Filename} (case-sensitive, with curly brackets, so it preserves names perfectly and doesn't break the mod paths).
    • Format: Select WEBP - WebP.
    • Settings (Button below format): Slide the quality between 85% and 90%. (This is the secret to cutting down size without losing the sharp AI details).
    • Case of identical filename: Change to "Replace".
    • Options: UNCHECK the box that says "Delete original file". (It is vital to uncheck this because the materials folder contains .mat script text files essential for lighting that you must not lose).
  5. Process the Images: Click the "Convert" button (bottom right). The program will clone your files into the lightweight format within a couple of minutes. Repeat this conversion loop for the expansions.
  6. Clean Heavy Files (.tga): Once XnConvert finishes, open up your desktop materials folder. In the Windows file explorer search bar at the top right, type *.tga. Select all of them and delete them manually. Your folder will now cleanly contain only the new lightweight .webp images and the .mat instruction sheets.
  7. Reassemble the Mod Package on your PC: Take your newly optimized materials folder and drop it back into its original spot inside the step4 directories. This ensures each game folder on your PC is fully complete: holding the new light materials assets alongside all other native mod files (gfx, models**,** sound**, etc.)**.
  8. Transfer to the Headset (Mandatory Overwrite Order): Connect your Quest 3/3S and transfer the full contents of each game folder, making sure to copy everything inside, not just the materials:
    • First: Copy and paste the full contents of step4/valve into: xash / valve /
    • Second: Copy and paste the full contents of step4/gearbox into: xash / gearbox /
    • Third and final: Copy the full contents of step4/blueshift_unboxed into your headset's Blue Shift folder: xash / bshift / (or blueshift_unboxed depending on your setup).
  9. In-Game Activation: Turn on your Meta Quest, boot up each game, pause, go to: Configuration > Video > Video Options and check the "Allow Materials" box so the engine loads the brand-new graphics pack.
    • Performance note: On Quest 3 and 3S, it is highly recommended to leave VBO set to OFF thanks to the chip's native power, preventing texture glitches on transparent surfaces.

🚀 SECTION 4: ADVANCED PERFORMANCE INJECTION & VR COMFORT

To cement our smoothness gains and unlock the ultimate optimization profile, we will fine-tune how the Xash3D engine parses files out of storage.

📝 Adjusting the Commandline

  1. Connect your Meta Quest to the PC, access its internal files, and locate the root of the xash/ folder.
  2. Find the text file named commandline.txt and open it.
  3. Wipe out any outdated preloading parameters like gl_preload (which causes memory lockups when handling heavy AI texture sets) and paste this exact string in one single, continuous line:

text

xash3d -log --supersampling 1.25 --msaa 2 --cpu 4 --gpu 4 -mem 1024 -heapsize 524288 -zone 4096

Usa el código con precaución.

What does this layout do for your Quest 3 / 3S?

  • --supersampling 1.25 and --msaa 2: Eliminate pixelated edges and shimmering aliasing through the headset lenses.
  • --cpu 4 and --gpu 4: Force the XR2 Gen 2 processor to maintain its peak processing ceiling.
  • -mem 1024, -heapsize 524288, and -zone 4096: Expand the engine's cache heap limits and filesystem buffers. Because of this, the runtime holds onto the .webp textures seamlessly, rendering map transitions down to a mere blink of an eye.

🔄 VR Comfort Configuration (Smooth Turning)

The correct command to modify the frame-by-frame snap intervals and transition into free, fluid look controls is handled via the Snap Turn variable inside the engine configuration rather than vr_angle.

  1. If you prefer applying this directly via the command interface or by editing your config.cfg file, look up the variable named vr_snapturn_angle.
  2. Change its default layout to a minimal value, for example: vr_snapturn_angle 2 (or any value under 10.0).
  3. Technical breakdown: By anchoring this value so low, the camera pans a minimal amount of degrees per frame, converting jerky incremental snaps into a perfectly fluid Smooth Turn layout for high-end immersion.
  4. Always ensure you verify inside the main video menus that your target framerate is locked at 90 FPS.
  5. When you transfer the materials folders do it using "SIDEQUEST in manage files" so much better. This prevents the files from becoming corrupted and is much faster. (IMPORTANT)If you managed to do everything correctly, load screen times should be between 20 and 25 seconds.A tip: when you start a new level, save the game immediately. Every time you leave that level, it will take another 20 to 25 seconds to load the new or old level you are switching to; however, if you load a save while already in the same level, the delay will be just one second—or even instantaneous.

That is it! Save all files, safely un-plug your Meta Quest from the computer, and execute a complete cold reboot of the headset (hold the power button for 3 seconds, turn off, and boot back up). Launch your campaign tracks from the Lambda1VR Launcher and get ready to experience real tactical terror inside Black Mesa.

enjoy!

TIPS FOR METAQUEST:

1. Metaquest 3, 3s I recommend enabling it in the metaquest options
"Content adaptive brightness control" this option adjusts the LCD backlight in dark scenes to prevent black tones from appearing grayish is like a "HDR" OPTION.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. Lowering the brightness on the Meta Quest can also improve color tones and performance, and significantly extend battery life—at least down to the 50% level.

3. If you are using a Meta Quest 1 or 2 and experiencing stuttering or low FPS, you can enable the VBO option; it optimizes the game but can occasionally cause texture errors.

The future of standalone PC gaming | Meta Quest & Pico VR.

Much like the Steam Frame advertises, playing your PC games native within headset is now possible, opening up a huge library of games without needing to ever plug into a PC.

This video gives behind the scenes info on the development with the now deprecated GameNativeXR Project and introduction to the NEW WinlatorXR version for July 2026

both applications allow you to play your Steam, Epic, GOG and Amazon PC store games inside your Meta Quests and Pico VR headsets- FOR FREE- WITHOUT any PC!

One important point covered in the video is about the hugely popular Meta Quest 3 and 3s VR headsets.

Unfortunately, Meta Horizon OS continues to barricade progress of existing and future developments that could one day potentially bring PCVR into standalone, This is due to the missing Turnip video driver support for Quest 3 and Quest 3s devices.

The Qualcomm drivers that Quest 3 / 3s uses suffers greatly with compatibility and performance compared to Turnip, being unable to render any openGL PC titles, while already having limited compatibility with dxvk (dx7-11) and vkd3d (dx12), sometimes unable to render correctly no matter the container setup.

The older Oculus / Meta Quest 2 remains compatible with Turnip, The PICO 4 Ultra which has the exact same chipset as a Quest 3, remains compatible with Turnip and the upcoming Steam Frame will be functioning solely with Turnip.

This lack of support stops any hope of using existing pre configured game profiles from something like GameNative, which assumes (quite rightly) that turnip would be supported on the GPU in quest 3.

This in part ultimately lead to returning development time to WinlatorXR, where full setup control can be managed in a way that doesn't have the users constantly fighting against incompatible setup being imported and not launching their games.

All code towards the XR modifications has been passed back to the GameNative project and the lead developer has since acquired a Meta Quest 3s, so the future is still bright and in safe hands, our hope is the massive community there can shout louder than me alone with regards to getting turnip support reinstated.

---------
No development builds for GameNativeXR will be shared, but for the new WinlatorXR (CATS27 APK) see the setup guide below

What are some Horizon+ games I can beat in a few hours and have no replayability?

I bought all 3 Vader immortal games and I loved them but now that I've finished them they will just sit in my backlog, never to be touched again. I'd like to try horizon + for the free trial month but I want to have some games in mind before i do.

Can I factory reset Quest 2 without the controllers/handles?

I will buy a second hand Quest 2 with no handles/joysticks or whatever you call it. I will be using it for sim-racing in PC. Someone wrote that you can not do some basic stuff such as not being able to reset the device. Is it true? The controllers will have no impact on sim-racing for PC. All I care is the headset itself. I am not planning to play any game with controllers either. I just wonder if I will miss anything else without them.

Is there actually any fix for the boot-looping/grey screen problem on the Quest 3?

I’ve tried every method under the sun, including: Installing the latest update via the Software Upgrade Tool, installing different firmwares through 3rd party methods, changing the Boot Slot from A to B then B to A, leaving it to sit for a while upon booting, factory reset (which just crashes the OS a few seconds into the ‘Erasing’ process)

I’m wondering if there is ANY fix for this or it just becomes a paperweight?

I also can’t return the Quest 3 as I bought this one second hand.

What’s the most you’ve ever spent on a Meta Quest game, and what made it worth it?

I’m curious what people here consider “worth the money” in VR.What’s the most you’ve spent on a single Meta Quest game or app?
More importantly, what made you feel it justified the price?
And on the flip side, have you ever bought an expensive VR game that you regretted?
I’d love to hear which games gave you the best value for your money.
