Hi! I’ve never done tons of makeup, and honestly haven’t been able to afford it as a college student. But now I’m getting a big girl job! I’m a mascara and lipgloss girl on a good day, and my skincare is mainly just washing, moisturizing and occasional niacinamide for redness/texture since I don’t get much acne.
What are the basics I need to pick up? What’s better as liquid or cream vs powder? How much does brush/applicator type and quality matter? I like the clean girl or dewy looks - I occasionally use cream concealer but it always looks cakey somehow, especially under my eyes. I’m sure some is I need to practice and maybe get powder (?), but a lot of the products I do have are also old and the cheapest drugstore brand.
I’m considering going to Sephora or Ulta and having a salesperson help me pick things out and color match and such - which store would you recommend? I’ve heard certain brands are only sold at one or the other, but it would be nice to be able to go in and personalize a routine with products that work well together with someone who knows more than me.
TIA!
