Haunted Mask 1st print with mask

Finally got it! Not the best condition obviously but I finally landed this one! I’d say the $24 I paid for it is justified with how good condition that mask is in

Beware of non-first printings and how to spot them

Hey all! Just a friendly reminder if you’re buying these books you can NOT simply look at the wording and think you have a first print. Please look at the printer key. Most of them say “Scholastic First Print” but that doesn’t mean anything. Look at the left side of the book and check out the numbers. The lowest number is the actual print. Too many times I’m seeing books advertised as “genuine first prints” that are NOT first prints. I’ve included examples. The first one is a genuine first print since the lowest number is 1. Then it goes 5th print, 16th print, and 39th print. Notice how they all say “First Scholastic Printing” though. Again check the printer key on the left! Don’t pay premium for some 39th print of a book.

Night Of The Living Dummy Special Edition!

Let’s try this again without the spelling error 😂

Got very lucky and got this first print special edition thin spine on eBay for only $12! Very nice condition I’m happy it arrived in this good of shape!

Just got these 2 books dropped off!

I Live In Your Basement first printing and Let’s Get Invisible 6th printing! Both look pretty good!

Edit: I bought I Live In Your Basement here for $8 at a thrift store. Didn’t mean to make it seem like “both” were delivered. Sloppy wording on my end there for the title. Let’s Get Invisible was dropped off when I ordered it. Basement I found at a thrift store for under $10!

Careless…..

This is the 2nd book I’ve ordered this week that has been damaged in shipping. I’m getting so sick and tired of these people not taking care of these packages. Freaking mint condition early printing of Stay Out Of The Basement and it arrives like this….

My Goosebumps Printings Breakdown

So I was a little bored and curious about my book printings so I decided to do a deep dive. It breaks down like this :

1st Printings: 24 = 38.7% of collection
2nd-5th Printings: 8 = 12.9% of collection
6th-10th Printings: 19 = 30.6% of collection
11th-20th Printings: 11 = 17.7% of collection

That brings us to 62 total. So to further break it down
- 51 of 62 are 10th printings or earlier = 82.3%
- 32 of 62 are 5th printings or earlier = 51.6%

I’m still open to “upgrading” some of these but about 90% are my childhood books so I think keeping that matters since it makes it “my” collection. I’m pretty happy about this breakdown and based on the printings and book quality of full sets I’ve seen out there I’d say I have a better than average collection.

I’m curious about yours guys breakdowns as well though, what it is it?

Finally completed my collection!

Guys I did it! I have 1-62 all original copies! Not all first printings sadly but they average between 1-6. My oldest printing is Monster Blood at 22 but that’s an earlier book so I’m not too upset. From 44-62 all but 2 are first printings and the ones that aren’t are 3rd and 4th printings. I had almost all 1-60 since I was a kid but lacked 61 and 62. I found 61 at a used book store WITH inserts for $10 which was insane and I just had a buddy of mine buy me 62 with inserts from a guy he knows for $75. Once I have all of them I’ll be sure to post a pic here. After 30+ years….its complete 🥲

Book sleeves/holders

Do you guys have these? I’ve only seen these 2 and I don’t remember how I got them. I think they came with some of my scholastic orders back in grade school. I wonder if these have any value. I’d love to see yours especially for other groups of books! Mine have some sun fading for sure haha

Odd back cover no bar code?

Do any of you have a copy of How I Learned To Fly? If so can you check yours and see if this is normal? This looks nothing like the back of any of my other books

Pricing stickers?

Would you guys as collectors prefer these stickers to be removed or left on? Do they add to the nostalgic value of it if it’s from a place like K-Mart that doesn’t exist anymore?

Value question

Hey guys. I own all the books from 1-60, missing those last 2. I’ve had people look at them and tell me my copies are in very good shape, basically very good - fine condition. For arguments sake let’s say all of this is accurate for the condition (Very Good -Fine) how much do you think I could ask for/how much is that collection worth?

Is this the original Werewolf Skin I happen to have?

I keep seeing posts about the last 3 being easily reproduced or “faked” so I’m not sure. The discoloration around the edges is some sun damage unfortunately. Most of them have this since my bookcase as a kid was near a window with no curtain or blinds. Thanks!

Tomorrow Never Dies and Skyfall

I know these films aren’t remotely connected or in the same universe but I rewatched TND last night and thought of Silva from Skyfall. Know what I just realized? Skyfall perfectly lines up with Tomorrow Never Dies timewise. Silva says he was stationed in HK from 86-97 and then M gave him up to the Chinese. Not only did HK go back to China in 1997 but since TND came out in 97 and a Chinese agent helped basically avert WWIII it makes sense M would make this exception if Silva was hacking where he shouldn’t and she gave him up as a big favor/thank you to Beijing at the end of TND since it was one of their agents along with Bond that stopped Carver. Like I said I know it’s not the same Bond universe but I’m just going to say it is in my head since this timeline sync up is perfect haha

Anyone else think Halle Berry is awful in Die Another Die?

EDIT: Clearly I meant Die Another Day lol wish I could edit titles

I just rewatched this film for the first time in over 20 years and my god she is terrible in this movie. Every line of dialogue is cringe and her delivery matches it. Does anyone else share my absolute hatred of her character in this movie? It’s not a good movie in general and in my bottom 3 of my Bond rankings but she takes it from bad to unbearable. Is this a product of the times you think or was this bad even back then?

Best entry Bond film to show someone to introduce them to the character? I say Casino Royale

My fiancé has never seen any Bond films and since I never shutup about how much I love Bond she finally said “hey show me your favorite one and I’ll watch it.” I showed her Casino Royale as I think it’s the perfect film to show someone who has zero experience with Bond. She absolutely loved it and wants to see more. I think Casino Royale is the perfect entry film, thoughts?
