I installed the official stable One UI 8.5 update on my S24+, and here are my first impressions after using it for a short time:
- First of all, AirDrop support has finally arrived, and it works. You don’t even need to enable it manually — it comes turned on by default after the update.
- The second thing I was curious about was battery health status, but unfortunately my battery health information still doesn’t show up.
- Just like on the Ultra models, the control center can now be customized through the Good Lock app.
- Game Booster has improved a lot. There’s now a new bar that shows real-time system usage and FPS values (I’m attaching a screenshot). Also, during a 35-minute PUBG session at maximum settings, the phone only used 5.4% battery and stayed noticeably cooler compared to before. (Though this is based on just one short gaming session.)
- I think almost all AI features are now available, especially the one I was most excited for — editing things by simply typing instructions.
- I also noticed a few small camera changes and some new filters, but I haven’t explored them much yet.
There are probably many more new features that I haven’t discovered yet.
