Hi everyone,
I’m an IB student from Latin America planning to apply for the 2027 intake, specifically to Sciences Po, and I’m currently unsure about which English proficiency exam I should take.
At my school, I’m already preparing for the Cambridge FCE, but the pressure is honestly very intense. The preparation is quite demanding, especially while managing IB coursework, and it’s starting to feel overwhelming.
At the same time, I’ve been thinking about taking the IELTS instead. I feel like IELTS might suit me better, but I’m not sure if switching would be the right move, especially since I’d be preparing more independently.
My main questions are:
- For Sciences Po, is FCE enough, or is IELTS generally preferred?
- What level of English is typically required to be a competitive applicant?
- Would it be smarter to stick with FCE since I’ve already started, or switch to IELTS even with the extra effort?
I’m feeling a lot of pressure balancing IB and exam prep, and I want to make the best decision for my application.
Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
