Hi all, I have a gen 2 R1S on AT tires. It’s 18 months old and at 18,000 miles. About 4 weeks ago, the steering feel changed from relatively firm and direct to loose and disconnected to the front wheels. It went in to the SC and they reported back that it was in spec and they couldn’t find anything wrong. I pushed back and requested they drive it because they had only checked for codes. The manager drove it and reported that it needed new tires which would fix the problem. I said that I was doubtful that new tires would fix a loose steering issue but the manager was convinced it would and said that they had looked at every possibility and this was the only fix left. I did a quick test drive on pick up and the ride was smoother and there was more lateral grip so I accepted it. After a week of regular driving on different types of road, it is clear that the loose steering is exactly the same and needs constant correction. It is upset by road surfaces that never troubled it before and drifts on straight roads. Has anyone come across this? I’d like to be able to go back to the SC more informed of possible fixes as it has gone from a vehicle that was a joy to drive to one that’s frustrating and purely an A to B car. Many thanks for any suggestions.
