12/12…right…

Apparently the map likes to lie. Only 6 available stalls compared to the map saying there’s 12. Small bug but still.

Rivian care for used buyers

I asked about getting Rivian care for my R1T. I am a poor (bought used) here is a screenshot of their response. It goes on to say you have to keep up with the prescribed maintenance, less than 8 years old and less than 80K miles. Interested to see what the price is over other third party options.

Apple Music is a joke

I feel like it is a punishment using Apple Music on Rivian, it is absolutely horrible! It doesn’t sync with library… volume changes every 20 seconds, picture are never appearing.
It is so frustrating paying 15$ a month and not getting the only feature I really use

Apple Podcasts

Probably requested multiple times, but I’d love to see a native Podcasts app alongside Apple Music. I say this as someone who is merely 2 weeks into my R1S ownership.

Why can’t snow mode go to highest ground clearance?

Like the title says, I’d like to be able to go to the highest clearance when in snow mode. A big factor in me picking a Rivian over other EVs is that even though I don’t off road too often, I do live in the snow and often have to drive through it before the snow plow has made it to my street, and I like that Rivians can have great clearance when you need it but you can go back down to a more efficient height when you don’t.

So yeah, anyone know why it’s like this and if they’d consider changing it? Thanks!

Faulty sensor

Howdy,

My 2025 Gen2 R1s was parked at the airport for 4 days, it was left at 88%. Came back and the batteries were drained. Towed to a charging station got juiced, but a brake sensor kept the car in park. Was towed 100+ miles to a service center and they said something was left in the front seat causing the car to stay in “ready” mode draining the batteries.

There was nothing there. I had just cleaned out my car, all that was present were some sunglasses, mints, a book, and hand sanitizer in the lower storage tray.

They are basing their assessment off the logs from the car, I’m trying to verify that the sensors themselves were evaluated, but the notes thus far do not state that.

Anyone have a similar issue they have pushed back on?

ABRP vs Rivian route planning

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I am about to be new to Rivian ownership. Since rivian bought ABRP, is A Better Route Planner features not baked into the Rivian native maps or apps?

When I use ABRP and the Rivian route planner in app, it gives me very different options. I wasnt sure which would generally be better to trust and use long term, but it seems like ABRP has more settings I can use to tweak and be more conservative.

Steering On-Center wandering since 2026.23?

I have a SC appt on Friday to have them look at my R1T it has begun wandering a bit at speeds with a notchiness or weird directional variation that is abrupt like a ghost correction that is hard to describe.

It Feels like potential TREs or a control arm bushing kinda notchiness/suddenness when it decides to wander left. Then right. And back and forth etc. while going straight and steady speed.

It does not happen with minor steering input like along a curve of the road.

Anyone experiencing or have experienced anything similar?

I feel like this started after 2026.23.

I have done a full reset once already and have done 2x infotainment resets for other reasons (12v message and SOS INOP message).

Current city in UI?

Maybe I'm completely missing it, but one nice feature that Tesla has for roadtrips is that it shows your current city as you are driving. Rivian seems to have the current city data as you can ask the AI assistant for it, but it would be nice to see it at a glance.

Example of what I am talking about (not my picture, thanks u/jonathanbaird):

Apple Music vs. Tidal for Rivian R1S Gen 1 Sound System?

I know i'm thinking too much about it, but was just curious if anyone had a clear preference after using both!

Has anyone noticed a clear difference in using Apple Music vs. Tidal on the R1S sound system? I have a 2023 R1s Adventure, Quad... so I think that's the Elevation sound system. I use Apple Music daily on my phone, so i've been using that (Native Rivian Apple Music app, not bluetooth) with sound check off, spatial audio and dolby atmos on, but I read somewhere that Tidal has better hi-res / lossless audio in the native Rivian app with Max quality turned on. Not sure which is better especially with the latest software update adding the toggle for Apple Music AAC...

In my experience trying both on the same songs, the bass and depth of songs sound clearer on Tidal, but the vocal presence sounds better on Apple Music.

Changing channels on SiriusXM in R2?

Quick question - anyone out there using SiriusXM in the Rivian? It's my primary source of music and has been for years - I currently drive a Mini Cooper. In the Cooper, from the steering wheel buttons I can change channels and cycle through my favorites or "all" stations if I want as I search for what I want to hear.

It dawned on me that I'm not sure how that works on a Rivian? Doing a quick search it seems like you have to use the touchscreen to change channels since XM is actually part of their "software" and more of a streaming service? Is that true? I would find it really annoying to have to take my eyes off the road and hit the touch screen to cycle through channels - when auto makers moved this action to the steering wheel years ago it was a game changer - I find it hard to believe I wouldn't be able to use one of the scroll wheels to change a channel.

Rented an Airstream and Towed with my Gen1 R1T Quad in the Rockies

A few weeks ago we picked up a 25' Flying Cloud in Denver and towed it to Fort Collins, then up into the mountains. We only did one DCFC. The rest of our charging was at the campgrounds.

The experience was essentially flawless, as far as the hardware was concerned. The people and the dog had a few rough spots ;)

We also drove the Old Fall River Road in RMNP. It was nice.

We also drove the Rollins Pass Road / Corona Pass Road / Moffat Road. Freaking gorgeous.

Truck did fantastic on all this.

For those of you running a powered cooler in your r1t bed, how do you orient it/use it?

Product shot from ICECO as an example.

I want a powered cooler for camping. I use the tailgate as my kitchen. I’m curious for those putting a powered cooler in their truck bed, how do you orient and use it? What has been most ergonomic for you?

I don’t really want to load it in and out. I assume I would remove my tonneau cover during the times I use it, but maybe that would create a situation where I’m reaching up and in too much.

(Not worried about power for placement as I have an external Anker already for other stuff)

So what has worked well for folks?

Is Service Really An Issue?

I'm getting spooked by R1 and R2 owners saying they've been to the service center 10~15 times in a year or so. Is that real? I thought the advantage of an EV was 'no moving parts' and 'no service' and 'no maintenance'?

I have a VW Alltrack (AWD wagon) with 70k miles, and it has never been in the service center. Ever.

My ID.4 AWD Pro S with 70k miles has been to the dealer for one recall and to replace the comms module. That's it.

12v installed in R1T bed

Installed a 12v port into the bed of the truck today. Very happy with the result. Opens up so many options but namely, I can plug in my lceCo cooler and run it more efficiently.

Install was a piece of cake. Highly recommend.

Another slam dunk by the boys at S00nish. Thank you!
