Launch Green + Coastal Cloud. Love it coming from both a Model Y and R1T
I was a first minute reservation holder, believing in Rivian to deliver a quality car and I think they exceeded all expectations. We love the car.
We picked up our R2 in launch green and coastal cloud last weekend. We waited to order for coastal cloud. Apparently we got the first coastal cloud in Sacramento. This is my wife’s car and she has been driving a ‘21 model Y performance. I drive a gen 2 R1T dual max performance.
I have to say this car has such broad appeal to everyone. The drive quality and interior is much improved compared to the model Y. And although I love my truck and am never giving it up for camping and truck things, the R2 is so much easier for every day driving. Suspension isn’t as soft as the air suspension as suspected, but infinitely better than the Tesla. Also, compared to the R1T, the R2 drives so much sportier and feels faster and is so easy to park, even in tight spaces. It’s so roomy inside. I’m 6’3” and can easily (and comfortably) sit in the backseat with the seat in my position. It has so much more room in the backseat compared to the R1. From a family perspective we’ll probably primarily drive the R2 around town or if driving to a big city like SF. Save the R1T for camping, outdoors, and long road trips.
It obviously doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of the R1, but it shouldn’t for $40k less.
I’m really rooting for rivian with this. I think everyone would love this car!

Default driver work around for those with iPhone Digital keys
This is for those with the new digital key.
2025 R1T. My wife has driven the truck twice, but almost always defaults to her driver profile if we are both getting in the car. She’s 10 inches shorter than me so a bit of an annoyance. I had read from other posts the only options was to turn off proximity unlock in the Rivian app for the secondary driver but with the new adoption of digital key that isn’t an option in the Rivian app anymore.
So… go into the wallet with the digital key on the iPhone of the secondary user, click on the “i” in the top right corner and turn off “proximity unlock”. They will still be able to use the app to unlock the Rivian and can use their digital key to start the Rivian by placing it on the charging pad.
It has fixed 100% of my issues. Hopefully helps someone else.
Paint options to chrome delete bumper trim
I’m looking to chrome delete the bumpers. I’ve already switched to black emblems from AO. I saw the vinyl kits from Brain Exploder but given how many pieces there are and having to seam them together, i just dont think I’ll be happy with the DIY. I actually took it to a ppf shop and they put a matte black ppf on one section and it just was too different from the surrounding trim so we aborted (pictured).
I’ve heard people have just painted them which seems like a much easier option. Any one have a specific paint brand and color they’d recommend? Has anyone tried plastidip (it has appeal since you can peel it off if you mess up)?
Thanks!
