Just got the update this afternoon. You can FINALLY NAME YOUR SAVED DESTINATIONS!!!!!
Bout fuckin time Rivian. 👏 Now fix my cruise control dropping out.

Bout fuckin time Rivian. 👏 Now fix my cruise control dropping out.
Every 3-6 months cruise control just drops off and is “unavailable at the time.” What the fuck Rivian?! I figured after 1000000 updates, the bug might be gone. Cameras are clean and everything. This is just plain cruise control.
Edit: I made sure to clean the dust off of my screen, prior to posting.
Edit 2: Gen 1 R1S, 75k miles, and a hard resent USUALLY fixes this for a couple of days/ weeks. Still don’t feel like I should have to do this. Sucks when the cruise control fails in traffic and just shuts off.
I thought this was a pretty cool thing. I went to Nexprint and uploaded a picture of our pup. I dont have a 4 color printer (yet), so I just figured I’d see what happens. It waaa really cool to take a picture than have it come to “life” in plastic😂
Hey y’all!!! I decided to go with a mossy look to the helmet. I still have to mount the laser unit as well as some sort of reddish visor (having trouble sourcing that). This project has been SO AWESOME!!!
Edit: if anyone knows where to source a red transparent piece of plastic for the eyepiece, I’d love a link or two. Thanks!!!
I am just getting into designing things in Blender. I thought it would be fun to do a model rocket build with my kids. I designed this nose cone and printed ink PLA. It’s about 120 mm x 30mm wide. The whole rocket is going to be roughly 600 mm tall. I have the parts designed with the walls of the body to be around 4mm thick. I will have to design a plug for the parachute (just leaned about that). But my question is, does this nose shape look ok? Is there anything I need to keep in mind when building/designing this thing? I don’t want to end up building a bomb!!! Thanks for any help y’all!
My son asked me to make him a driller gun about 6 month ago. I frequently make my kids wooden toys that they ask for, which we design together. My son asked me for a driller gun, and said we should make it with wood. I finally decided to build this thing and commit to learning a little blender. I modeled all of the parts to fit inside of a short length of 4” PVC. I wanted to show y’all “the guts” before it is assembled in the housing. I’m going to upgrade the motors with a couple that have more torque. But as a proof of concept, I’m super happy!!!! (The noise isn’t so bad inside of the PVC).
Thank you for everyone who helped me with settings adjustments when my gears and whatnot weren’t working!!!! I have also designed and printed a grip with a push button “trigger,” which turns the drill off and on.
Really awesome seeing on in person. The raised lettering on the back was pretty cool too.
So a week ago I posted my Predator helmet and really just wanted to throw it out and start over. But you guys/gals gave me so much confidence with your suggestions! I got some fillers and different products that were suggested and just went to town on this helmet. I filled/sanded/filled/sanded, and have come back to share my progress! I even soldered up a laser module and designed a little mount out of ABS. I still have more work to do, but this experience has been a GAME CHANGER!!! Thanks again everyone for your kind words and suggestions. I really was expecting getting blasted for not knowing what to do. Anyways. Here are a few pictures of my status.
Putting it out there that this is my first helmet, or any multi part 3d print. So I got the STL file for this predator mask and it was cut into parts. I had a little trouble getting the parts printed, initially. I finally got it pretty dialed in and only had to restart a couple of large parts twice (with some ChatGPT help on the settings).
Over the weekend, I sat down with my sander and tried getting the parts to line up. The prints had places for alignment pins, but they were pretty wobbly. One half of the helmet was not too bad, but the other half was really out of whack. You can see the results of my attempted glue up. I am planning on using filler (bondo) to try and fix all of these uneven edges. I was then going to sand and paint/distress the helmet.
Should I just start over? My 8 year old son loves predator and I just wanted it to look cool for him (possibly me:) for Halloween.
I could really use some tips on what to do better when gluing up these parts. It’s a bit overwhelming.
I was proud of myself for coming up with the battery pack and lasers though. I’ll be dialing those in when I figure out how to finish up this whole ordeal.
Edit just to say thank you, in advance
I haven’t assembled the helmet yet, but I did wire up the lasers. Such a cool project!! I have a bunch of work getting the lasers aimed.
I’m a new STM and thought about going to the yard sale Saturday. One of my friends told me it can be quite nuts, even during the early access. Can anyone tell me what their experiences been in the past?
These trees about about 5 years old. I heard it’s good for trees to be unsupported so they can grow strong. Should I remove the bamboo? The bottom of the trunks are about an inch thick, and the tree is about 7’ tall.
It’s almost embarrassing honking the horn in the R1S. Do we know if that’s changed on the R2?
I didn’t have enough figs to fill all of my jars (the bees got to most of the ripe ones), so I added strawberries as well. I added some vanilla bean and a touch of bourbon to the jam. It smells pretty darned good. Can’t wait to see how it turns out.
