Acid reflux & GI issues after quitting?

Has anyone else experienced bad acid reflux and stomach issues after quitting vaping? I’m a few days shy of being nicotine free for a month after vaping for 8 years, but I’ve had acid reflux and stomach issues basically the whole time after quitting. I’ve never dealt with any issues like this before quitting so it feels to me like it has to be linked to quitting??

\*I’ve been taking esomeprazole for almost 2 weeks now & it’s helped some with the reflux but not 100%

Has anyone experienced reflux like this after quitting vaping? Looking for similar stories

I’m 24 and looking for people who have experienced something similar and eventually got better.

I had never had acid reflux, throat, or digestive issues like this before quitting vaping. A few weeks ago I quit, and shortly afterward everything started.

At first, I mostly had gas pains and pressure moving around my chest, ribs, back, and shoulder blades. I only had what felt like actual acid reflux for a couple of days the first week of quitting.

Then I had one really bad reflux episode after eating tacos with hot sauce about 2 weeks into quitting. That night was significantly worse than anything I had experienced before, and ever since that episode, the acid reflux and throat symptoms have been much more noticeable and persistent.

Now, after eating, I often feel like food or acid remains at the bottom of my throat or maybe top of chest area? I can swallow normally and food isn’t actually stuck, but it feels like it goes down slowly and then there’s a sensation of acid or irritation sitting there. I also get burning, pressure, burping, nausea, gas, and occasional chest/throat tingling or tickling.

Another major thing is constant sinus/post-nasal drainage. I feel mucus draining down my throat throughout the day, which keeps my throat irritated and sometimes makes it feel tight or ticklish.

It feels like everyday I wake up and the symptoms are never the same as the day before. It’s typically a symptom that I’ve already had a few days prior.

I’ve also been really anxious throughout all of this and have health anxiety, so I’m constantly paying attention to every sensation and worrying about what it means. I honestly don’t know how much anxiety is making everything feel worse.

I went to a doctor and they said it sounds like acid reflux and referred me to GI. My appointment isn’t until October. I’m taking omeprazole, but only for 2 weeks, and trying to be more careful with my diet.

Has anyone else developed reflux/GI/throat symptoms after quitting vaping? Did you have the gas pains first, followed by a really bad reflux episode that seemed to kick off worse symptoms?

And most importantly, did you eventually heal? What did healing feel like and how long did it take?

I’m not looking for a diagnosis—I’d just really appreciate hearing from people who have gone through something similar, especially some success stories. ❤️
