i don't know if it's my zoloft doing this to me or what, but for about a month now i've been getting chronic acid reflux so awful to the point where i'm vomiting regularly, and it doesn't matter if i eat a little or even a smidgen of food, it all comes back up eventually. my stomach basically constantly feels like it's doing somersaults (no pain, just awful feeling) and i always feel on the verge of vomiting.
this morning i had acid reflux for two hours on an empty stomach and was only able to eat something past noon. i woke up at eight. now it's past midnight and i'm trying to sleep but my stomach is telling me nooooooo
i know i most definitely have gerd, and i'm gonna make a doctor's appointment ASAP because this is hell and this needs to end. i also have ARFID on top of all this so i cannot do any major dietary changes as i eat very little. i'll just focus on eating much smaller portions and hoping i don't throw it up later that day. hoping i can get on meds and make this stop.
Do other people have this? How to get rid of it?
I have really bad acid reflux and have been taking meds and changing my diet, but still having a lot of symptoms. The worst one for me right now is the acidic, sour taste in the back of my mouth after eating ANYTHING. Water helps only for a second, mouthwash almost makes it worse. tums too.
18 M. My throat has been messed up for a while, and I don’t know what’s the cause. Now, when I eat too close to bedtime I’m guaranteed to reflux, but I don’t notice anything that actively causes reflux during the day. I pretty much tolerate all food the same, and I don’t notice any throat changes after I consume something like a chocolate protein shake.
My symptoms are globus, sore throat, difficulty speaking without straining, dry mouth. When I used to eat too close to bed I’d wake up with my throat destroyed and I’d feel nauseous.
When the ENT doctor examined me via the endoscope, she found nothing wrong except for something she described as a “fullness” that she couldn’t quite identify. She then sent me to get a CT scan (without contrast) and they didn’t notice anything amiss. The fact that it was a CT scan without contrast might be the problem.
I’m just not sure what the issue is since there’s been small periods of time within the last year where this problem was reduced and my throat felt better and I didn’t switch my diet nor the times I ate dinner. Also the fact that ENT didn’t see any inflammation or anything indicative of LPR in my throat with it feeling as bad as it did is suspicious.
I just don’t know. There was a correlation between my humidifier and my throat feeling better though.
Edit: forgot to mention that I’ve been experiencing this problem on and off ever since I caught COVID in 2023 and that it got worse last year. I’ve also had sleep apnea (starting from 2021; got corrected last year) and I might still have UARS.
I've been burping constantly and it just won't stop. •
I’m very gassy and I feel very bloated.
I recently had an endoscopy and am currently waiting for the results. I'm also experiencing a burning sensation in both my stomach and my back. What can I do to get some relief in the meantime?
Hello folks! Just Finally got diagnosed and what led to it was 3 years of feeling pressure in my throat anytime I moved my neck a certain way. Literally feels like someone has their hand wrapped around my throat and is Slightly pushing down. Docs thought I was crazy lol. Apparently drinking copious amounts of coffee before bed for years led to acid reflux burning my throat while sleeping.
Question is, Have any of you felt similar? Nobody ive talked to has mentioned that, but i guess everybody's body is different.
When does it get better? Been off my PPI and just using Pepcid for about a week now. Still having pretty bad heartburn. Did anyone else experience this and if so, does it end up going away or is this just my baseline?
I have been struggling with my 3 month old with reflux since day one. First we breastfed and due to some things I made the hard decision to switch to formula. I started with similac 360 she would spit up so much and had very bad constipation so we switched to similac total comfort. That worked for a bit but the spitting up got progressively worse. She was projectile spitting up and damn near her whole bottle. I burp her every oz hold her up for 15-20 mins after each feed and it still didn’t work. Finally her pediatrician recommended enfamil AR which helped a bit but not with the spitting up it was clearly uncomfortable for her. We went to the pediatrician last week and they recommended Flamotidine. I really didn’t want to do it as the side effects are disturbing to me. I asked her about her about her very clear lip tie which dr responded that is a myth and doesn’t exist. Mind you, I picked her pediatrician because she is also a lactation consultant. Anyway, I mentioned a cows milk intolerance she said no because there would be blood or mucus in her stool which there is not. I also asked about a complete diary intolerance and she said that she didn’t want to change her formula again which I understand. I asked her if there’s anything we can do besides this medicine and she said this was my only option. I have been giving it to her now for a week and now it’s to the point where my baby is turning “colic” because no dr will listen to me or try to figure out what is wrong with my daughter. I’m seeking advice any at all. Do I need to get a second opinion ? Am I needing to try different bottles? I just don’t know what to do anymore. There’s underlying issues here and I do not want to give my three month old medicine every night just doesn’t sit right w me. Please help. Hope this makes sense lol
hello! I have reflux and silent reflux from time to time, but i’m verrrry anti PPIs and acid reducers because I know they only mask symptoms and dont solve the root cause, they make digestion worse. The only thing I take for my gut is L-glutamine and probiotics. I mostly fixed my gut through lifestyle changes etc.
I have an interest in alginates because it seems more natural. But then I looked at the ingredients and it includes acid reducers, which I don’t want to take. does anyone use or know of a natural alginate that doesn’t pump the ingredients with acid reducers?
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for shared experiences. I’ve already seen a doctor and have a follow-up phone call on Wednesday.
At the end of March, I had a bad reflux episode after coffee. At first, I had frequent burping, chest/upper stomach pressure, palpitations/heart awareness, and “air hunger” where I felt like I had to think about breathing or take deep breaths. At its worst, the pressure and burping made me feel almost short of breath. That part has improved, but it’s still been really stressful.
I was given omeprazole and later Gaviscon, which helped the burning at first. Recently, I’ve still had burping after eating/drinking, throat burning/mucus feeling, constant mid-chest pressure, and a slow-swallowing feeling in my mid-chest.
I also had constipation. My doctor suspected constipation/gas pressure could be contributing and gave me Moxalole. I stopped it a few days ago and now poop daily, but I still have gas/pressure, stomach gurgling, and liquid “sloshing” sounds. I know that can be normal when water/food/gas are moving after constipation/laxatives, but it’s still uncomfortable.
The symptom worrying me most is swallowing. Food and liquids do go down, but sometimes they feel like they move slowly or get “stuck” around my mid-chest before reaching my stomach. Dry foods like sandwiches/cereal are worse, and water helps push it down. I also burp after eating/drinking.
I recently had a cold with a congested nose and sore/puffy throat, so I’m wondering if post-nasal drip + reflux irritation could be making the throat/chest sensations worse.
Has anyone with GERD/LPR had this combo: slow mid-chest swallowing, burping after food/drinks, throat burning or mucus feeling, chest pressure/air hunger, palpitations during flares, gurgling/sloshing after constipation, or water feeling like it “pushes food down”?
Did it improve with time, Gaviscon/PPIs, diet changes, treating constipation, calming breathing/anxiety, or post-nasal drip care?
Thank you so much guys.
So back in February I had an upper endoscopy done for acid reflux, esophagus spasms, and swallowing problems, they didn’t find anything during the scope but took some tissue, I’m assuming, out to do a biopsy on. Two weeks later I get a call saying “there is no evidence of esophagitis or acid reflux related issues” which had me just flat out confused given my symptoms. Today I was cleaning out my car and just so happened to notice a letter from them I never opened. I opened the letter and boom there it was my biopsy confirmed i have “abnormal esophagitis”. I’m pretty pissed given it’s now May and if it weren’t for me opening that old letter I never would’ve known I even had this. What should my next steps be?? I feel like the doctors office messed up bad by telling my I was fine.
So it all started with the classic heartburn. The longer this episode went on for the more the muscles around my heart hurt. Even when I’m not coughing, it hurts to even move or breathe. And ofc it hurts more when I am coughing. I can also feel it in my back, like around my shoulder blade. Has anyone experienced this and if so, what helped?
