My spouse (Swedish citizen) and I submitted a digital application for a partner residence permit on July 13. It was marked as completed on July 20, and my passport was digitally verified and registered via Freja ID on August 3.
We attached a highly detailed, chronological document outlining our 4-year relationship (including 20 mutual visits/Schengen travels and an official marriage registered in Sweden).
Given the high volume of processing before the October 1st rule changes, are July applicants with Freja ID passport checks receiving direct decisions recently? For those in clear, well-documented marriages, is Migrationsverket currently waiving the embassy interview to clear the backlog, or should we still expect an interview request in the coming weeks?
Would love to hear from anyone who applied in June/July.

Hi everyone,
I have applied for my first residence permit to live with my wife in Sweden. She is a Swedish citizen, and we are currently waiting for the case to be processed. I have not yet received an invitation for an interview.
I am planning to visit my wife in Sweden for one week in September (1–8 September) as a regular short visit, and I will return to my home country afterwards.
Has anyone been in a similar situation — having a pending first-time residence permit application based on marriage to a Swedish citizen, but visiting Sweden temporarily before receiving an interview invitation?
Did you have any problems at the border, or did the visit have any effect on your residence permit application?
I would especially appreciate experiences from people who travelled to Sweden while their application was still pending.

I am waiting for a Spouse visa (married to a Swedish citizen who fully meets the maintenance requirements).
Our application was submitted in July 2026, and I successfully completed the digital passport check via the app shortly after. I am applying from a non-EU country in Europe and am currently waiting for the invitation for the embassy interview.
For those who applied recently in 2026, how fast are things moving right now? How long did you wait between the digital passport check and receiving the email to book the interview?

Last year I was rejected by Migrationsverket. I am married to Swedish citizen and 1 month ago we applied again and in a week I received an email to confirm my passport with Freja. What is next when will I hear again from them? Any experience?
