I’m currently working as an SDE2 at a mid-sized startup in India, with a tech stack mainly around React, Next.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript. My current CTC is around 30–35 LPA.
Lately, work has started to feel quite monotonous, and I’m not finding enough time or energy to prepare for a switch alongside my job. I’m a bit confused about what direction to take next.
On one hand, I could continue in frontend and try to switch roles directly. On the other hand, I’m considering taking a short break (a few months) to focus on learning backend and become more full-stack before switching.
Not sure which path makes more sense in the current market—sticking with frontend for a quicker switch, or investing time to broaden my skill set.
Would really appreciate advice from folks who’ve been in a similar situation.
