I shoot mostly portraits (seniors, families, and groups) on a Canon R6ii. I have used my mechanical shutter with no problems for around a year, but 2 weeks ago, the mechanical shutter broke in the middle of a shoot. I sent off my old camera to get repaired and had to purchase a new R6ii because I'm in the middle of my busy season, which was such a nightmare to deal with. Anyways, has anyone had this problem with their mechanical shutter? I've been terrified to use it on my new camera, even though I like the feedback and sound, so I've been doing electronic 2 weeks, and it's been killing me. Does using the mechanical shutter damage the camera, or did I just have freak accident?
