WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TO INFORM STUDENTS ON CAMPUS!

Sorry to make another post about this, but this will be the last time I'll make a post about this unless something major happens. While I have been advocating here, we need to start handing out informational material and spreading awareness on campus, in-person.

Please join the discord if you are willing to organize in-person in any capacity. I would greatly appreciate the support in advocating against this fee hike and keeping pressure up on the administration.

To put it simply, the student fees survey is likely to close soon. According to the Coyote Chronicle, it was supposed to close on Thursday. That means the Division of Student Affairs only intended to allocate 2 weeks to let students give input on a 150% fee increase.

I have more alarming news. Apparently the board designed to oversee fee increases, CFAC, voted against this fee raise 7-3 in February. Despite this, the DSA continued to push this fee hike, and left us with a short window to speak out against it, particularly when students are busy preparing for finals.

It is becoming increasingly apparent that this is a hostile action against students by a small minority of the administration. Please check out the excellent article written by the university newspaper; the Coyote Chronicle.

Hi all,

As a few posts have recently stated, the school is considering going through a $301/yr IRA price hike through an undemocratic process known as "Alternative Consultation". This is essentially an internal bureaucratic process where the only direct student input comes in the form a survey that has no real weight and is provided as an advisory material to the university president.

MORE INFORMATION: About the CSUSB IRA Fee Hike

It should be noted that the nature in which this survey has been disseminated to students has not been transparent. They know that if they put "$300 Fee Increase" on the Canvas dashboard, people would be outraged. By burying the $300 detail inside the survey and on a separate website, they are banking on students skimming the text, clicking through for the Habit Burger voucher, and inadvertently supporting the measure.

I have contacted administration and some of our ASI representatives regarding this price hike. They suggested attending the ASI board meeting on May 19th to make a public comment, because some administration members will be there.

We need to spread the word and tell others about this fee increase.

I have written some basic materials that advocate against the fee hike. Please feel free to share, distribute, or edit these materials if they are of any use to you.
