Stuck between waiting for CC anatomy waitlist vs. expensive summer university classes? Need advice!

Hey everyone, I’m in a dilemma regarding my nursing prerequisites and could use some advice on which path to take.
(For context this is to finish my nursing prerequisites) Anatomy at my local community college (Norco) is full and I'm currently on the waitlist. I have a backup option at CSUSB this summer, but it has pros and cons. Here are my two choices:

  1. **Wait it out at Norco CC:** Hope I get off the waitlist. If I don't get in, it will delay my nursing program application by a full year.
  2. **Take it at CSUSB this summer:** I would complete both A&P 1 and 2 back-to-back in two 5-week sessions. The professors have 5-star ratings, but the major downsides are the high cost and having to commute 4 times a week.
Is it worth risking the delay to save money, or should I just bite the bullet, pay up, and grind through the fast-paced summer courses to stay on track? Thanks in advance!

Admission Help

Hi everyone,

My cousin recently applied as an international student to California State University, San Bernardino and received a message saying they must submit a final official high school transcript including all grades and a posted graduation date, when we have already attached everything in the application.

The instructions say it must be sent directly by the school officials to CSUSB (either Admissions or International Admissions), even after everything is attached in the application, but there was no clear email provided, only the mailing address.

We’re confused about two things:
Is this message actually legit? because it was forwarded over by his consultant

Other students admitted to CSUSB are saying they never had to do anything like this or weren’t asked in this way, so what exactly is going on?

Has anyone (especially international students) dealt with this before?

Is this a normal CSUSB requirement or something specific to certain applicants?

Any help would be really appreciated because the instructions feel a bit unclear.

Making some fees optional?

Wonder if there’s a possibility in a future, even as an idea, to have some fees optional to some students
Like—for example, wouldn’t it be much better for online-only students to waiver fees.
I’m not interested in sports, yet I’m forced to pay?
Why do they want us to ALL pay into a service we’re not even interested in

Press-Enterprise: Two former CSUSB admins get $12m in gender discrimination settlement

By Joe Nelson | jnelson@scng.com | San Bernardino Sun

PUBLISHED: May 19, 2026 at 1:02 PM PDT

California State University will pay $12 million to settle claims by two former Cal State San Bernardino administrators who alleged they were fired or pushed to resign after reporting gender inequities, discrimination and harassment.

The settlement, reached in late March, is believed to be the largest publicly reported employment discrimination settlement against the CSU system.

It ends a roughly three-year legal battle between CSUSB and former administrators Clare Weber, the university's former vice provost, and Anissa Rogers, the former associate dean of the university's Palm Desert campus.

Weber alleged she was fired after raising concerns about pay inequities affecting female administrators at the San Bernardino campus, while Rogers alleged she was forced out after reporting gender harassment and retaliation at the Palm Desert campus.

"From the beginning, these cases were about accountability," said David J. deRubertis, lead trial counsel for Weber and Rogers, in a May 12 written statement. "Dr. Weber and Dr. Rogers took enormous professional and personal risks in challenging conduct they believed was unlawful. The result sends a strong message about the importance of protecting employees who speak up about harassment and against retaliation."

Anyone else getting the absolute runaround from CSUSB financial aid assistant staff?

Anyone else getting the absolute runaround from CSUSB financial aid assistant staff?

It is truly fascinating to watch the sheer level of inconsistency assistant staff manage to maintain when handling students inquiring about their financial futures. One would think that—just perhaps—they might possess the basic empathy required to put themselves in the shoes of someone concerned about their academic trajectory.

Every phone call, email, and in-person visit should theoretically be treated with the exact same energy and diligence they would desperately want while dealing with their own affairs. Instead, placing a student on hold only to return with some cockamamie excuse as to why basic paperwork and orders haven't been processed is, frankly, amateurish and inexcusable.

Has anyone else on here had this issue recently with them sitting on grants or blowing past their own promised deadlines? How long did it take for them to get their act together and resolve it for you?

Note: I am not berating them, I am stating my opinion of the office of Financial Aid and their handling of student's anxieties and concerns. The questions were about tuition concerns not disbursements.

tuition increase over 4 years

the financial aid post got to me and i was wondering how much tuition has increased since i’ve been here! thanks to the wayback machine, tuition for undergrad in 2022/2023 AY was $7,476.03, which is about the full fafsa amount, pretty reasonable for a full AY. this year, it’s $9,054.01. jesus christ.

last slide is my tuition cost, most of my classes have an added fee making my fall tuition $4,634.44, and i’m guessing my spring will be pretty close, meaning i’ll be paying an additional $200 per semester to take courses needed to get my degree. i know why those costs are there and have seen the result of those costs first hand, so i kinda see it as a wash, but thought it might be interesting for others to see.

(edit - the 26/27 year photo has some website editing markers on it, i do not control the tuition website, and only have access to one school site that i update. those pop ups are on every website i access while signed in, it doesn’t mean i can change anything on it. [no one asked but i wanted to clear it up])

MSW Student Moving to San Bernardino Seeking Social Work Experience and Practicum Supervision

Hello everyone,

I’m moving to the San Bernardino/Riverside area around November or December to help my mom while she recovers from surgery and to help with bills. I’m currently in an online MSW program at the University of Kentucky and just finished my first year. I also have a BA in Sociology from UCSB and over two years of experience in ABA as an RBT/Behavioral Interventionist.

I’m looking for job ideas or places to apply that would help me build my social work resume while I’m in school. I’m especially interested in roles related to children, families, behavioral health, case management, schools, hospitals, nonprofits, or community services.

Does anyone know of agencies, county jobs, entry-level social service positions, paid internships, or organizations in the San Bernardino/Inland Empire area that would be good experience for an MSW student? I’m also hoping to find a place that could provide MSW practicum supervision or be open to supporting me as I complete the second part of my practicum. I’m not sure which agencies are flexible with online MSW students, so any recommendations would really help.

"Tribes want Cal State to return Native remains and artifacts. Here’s why it’s not so easy." --Where does CSUSB stand on this?

https://ictnews.org/news/tribes-want-cal-state-to-return-native-remains-and-artifacts-heres-why-its-not-so-easy/

From the article:

"All but one Cal State campus have Native American remains and cultural items that federal and state laws require them to return to tribes. In many cases, the process has been slow.

Though the size of their collections varies, campuses like Cal Poly Humboldt and San Francisco State have made progress in returning human remains and cultural items, with Sacramento State having returned most of its Native collections. But others, like Cal Poly Pomona, have yet to see much progress and Cal State Bakersfield has not made any returns.

The Cal State system holds the remains of more than 2,000 Native Americans and more than 1.57 million artifacts, according to the most recent list of the system’s collections. Another 500,000 collections of items are still in storage awaiting proper tribal review to be cataloged.

Campus officials say they are working diligently to follow legal mandates to return items to tribes, but the road can be long and arduous.

What is the latest time a grad school decision will take?

I applied back to March the deadline was April 30th. I still haven’t heard back but when I applied it was forwarded for further consideration. I don’t know if I will know by May 31st or if they silently rejected or waitlisted me. Has anyone heard back at the very latest a month before classes in September or is it usually only a few weeks after submission deadline.

The portal is open and it’s bothering me since I can see they gave me access to employment and parking already but still no decision so if I’m rejected why would the portal keep expanding?
