Unsure how concerned to be...

I am 28F, had my first screening in 10 years. It came back as:

  • Higher risk for significant cervical abnormality
  • HPV other (not 16 or 18)
  • High-grade intraepithelial lesion (HSIL)

The doctor did not tell me much, aside from the fact I was being referred urgently to see a specialist for a colposcopy and biopsy. I am currently still waiting on an appointment.

Given the presence of HSIL, can I assume that I will also need a LEEP or similar?

Additionally, I am in Australia and the screening does not test for cancer. I know it is likely just precancerous, but I am concerned about the timeline - it has potentially had ~10 years to develop. How often does the colposcopy reveal that the HSIL has developed into cervical cancer?

Thanks in advance.

South Australia Paternity Leave/Contract Questions

I am moving to Adelaide for the start of the 2027 school year and have secured a contract at a government school.

In WA, you can be hired as a permanent teacher, on an ongoing contract, or on a short-term or year-long contract. It seems this is different in Adelaide, and you are on a year-long contract until you apply for permanency at two years. How do you convert your year-long contract to permanency? Is this process easier at a low IoED school?

Additionally, how does parental leave work with the year-long contract system? Is it 12 months continuous service before eligibility, and if so, would I be eligible at the end of the 2027 school year if my contract commenced at the beginning of Term 1? Would I have to secure an offer of a second year and work an additional few weeks (i.e., the period between Jan 1 and the start of school) in 2028 before being eligible for leave?

Any clarification would be greatly appreciated! TIA
