Incompetent coworker
Hi everyone! I’m relatively new to the vet med field. I’ve had my veterinary assistant certificate since 2024 and I’ve been working in my clinic since August of 2025.
I recently started taking classes to become an LVT and I have this coworker who also started taking the same classes. She had never fully taken interest in the field like I have been. She had even said before that she wanted to just stay in human medicine but she got fired so she couldn’t go back to where she was.
I can’t help but constantly feel like this girl is trying to compete with me. She has the same certificate, the same experience and everything as me and if I’m honest, it almost seems as if she undermines everything as if I don’t know what I’m doing and that she knows more. She’s made countless mistakes and refuses to admit to them, leaving the head tech we have looking like a dummy as if she doesn’t know how to teach us, not only that she doesn’t know proper animal restraint and has gotten me bitten once and is on the track of getting our vet bitten.
She’s definitely a bit of an airhead and it has not gone unnoticed. Our practice manager has also had numerous conversations with her about how she forgets things after being in the appointment with the vet, animal restraint, refusing to do certain procedures and her tardiness. I guess I just wanted to come on here and vent a little. I do mind my own business and keep to myself and ask questions when I don’t know something because I just can’t deal with her specifically. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk. 🙃
