AG 2.0 - What is behind the change

Hello community

I would really appreciate it if someone could articulate what is behind the recent change. Why did Google move away from having a unified platform (IDE) with a built-in agent manager to current standalone products. Which users would benefit from it? How is Google benefiting from it? No sarcasm, just want to understand the business case and the vision behind this. I'm not an expert in the field and I want to know where things are going so I can adapt instead of resisting the inevitable change.

Thank you in advance 🙏
