General check-up and routine tests

I see this a lot on American TV shows, where people without specific medical issues go to the doctor and they'll just run a bunch of tests and check for any health issues or areas where health can be improved.

Basically like a full MOT, but for your body.

Other than visiting the eye clinic on a referral from my optometrist a few years back, I've basically had zero contact with the NHS since I was a child.

Never had a blood test, urine test, physical check up or anything like that. I wonder sometimes if it's worth doing just to know if there is anything I need to be keeping an eye on, especially as i'm into my late 30s now and haven't always lived the healthiest lifestyle.

Is there a way I can request this from the NHS? Would I be laughed off the phone if I rang up my GP and told them nothing was wrong but I just want everything checked?
