Liquor Geeks (liquorgeeks.com) sold me "Shipping Protection," then refused to honor it when my $700 order never arrived

Just want to warn people about ordering from Liquor Geeks.

Back on June 14 I ordered two bottles of Macallan 18, around $730. At checkout they upsell this thing called "Shipping Protection" that literally says "Protection from Damage, Loss & Theft," so I paid the extra fee. Seemed like a no-brainer for an order that expensive.

The package was supposed to need an adult signature. It got marked delivered but I never got it. So I check the UPS proof of delivery and it was signed by some stranger, not me. I asked my neighbors, the front desk, and my building management, and every single one of them said the package never came here and nobody there signed for it.

So I email Liquor Geeks thinking, ok, this is exactly what I paid protection for. Nope. First they tell me to go deal with the courier myself, even though I bought from them, not UPS. Then they tell me to go search my building "again," after I already told them management confirmed it never arrived. Then they just stopped answering me completely.

Here's the part that actually got me. I emailed their support from a different email as a brand new customer just to test it, and they replied in like 5 minutes. So it's not that they're slow or busy. They were just ignoring me specifically.

It's been over a week now and they still won't refund me or do anything. They took my money for "loss & theft protection" and then refused to honor it the second something actually got lost.

Anyway if this happens to you, the thing that actually works is disputing the charge with your credit card, you don't need the store to cooperate for that. Save all your emails, the protection screenshot, and the UPS delivery record. I'm also filing with the BBB, FTC, and the state AG (looks like they're based in California), and reporting the store to Shopify.

Just don't trust that "Shipping Protection" upsell. It did nothing for me. Learn from my $700 mistake lol.
