Setting Up Private Clinic Must Haves

Hi everyone!

I’m currently planning to open up a private clinic with some help from my parents. To jumpstart things, I already have a pediatrician who will be sharing the clinic space with me. On the administrative side, my requirements are mostly sorted out, and I have an accountant handling the necessary business permits.

We are starting to look into logistics and clinic design, and I would love to get your insights so I don't miss anything crucial. Aside from the standard clinic fixtures (tables, chairs, air conditioning), here is what I have mapped out so far:

-Examination bed

-Tape measures & Mini fridge (for vaccines/meds)

-Weighing scale: I’m not entirely sure what type is best to buy since we will be catering to both peds and adults.

A couple of other major questions for those already practicing:

-Patient Records: What do you guys use to keep your patient charts? Since I'm only starting what is most convenient for the secretary to look for the patient records easily. Or should I jump straight into an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system? If EMR, do you have any local, user-friendly recommendations that won't break the bank for a starter clinic? Also, with patients bringing in labs wouldn't it be a bit complicated attachign their labs if EMR.

-The "Hidden" Essentials: Aside from diagnostic kits (BP apparatus, otoscope/ophthalmoscope, thermometer), what are the small, easily forgotten items you realized you absolutely needed in your first month? (e.g., specific waste bins, emergency meds.)

Would highly appreciate any tips, lessons learned, or mistakes to avoid. Thank you so much in advance!
