Our chances for a peek in June
If they market TES VI like starfield AND the game is currently internally expected to release in 2027 there is a chance we could see a cinematic trailer in June.
Starfield was shown in June 2021 when it was expected to release on 11/11/22 which would mean the intended window from reveal to release for BGSs most recent game, and only game release under Microsoft, was 17 months.
This decision may have been predicated on Starfield needing more marketing due to being a new IP, and it could have also been influenced by Microsoft. Microsoft is an even bigger wild card now because it’s under new leadership, so we can’t use past behavior as a great predictor, but also maybe Asha sharma and Matt booty want to make a strong impression or take things in a different direction.
And remember when Todd Howard said he likes to reveal games “as late as they let me”. LET implies someone else has decision making power above him. Of course the folks at Microsoft are ultimately his bosses but as far as we know we haven’t necessarily seen that outwardly changing development or marketing cycles yet.
Honestly I still think the chances are slim, maybe like 30% but I’m trying to work that hopium angle for us all.
In any case the sub should be a little more lively leading up to the showcase which will be nice. At least it’s something to talk about.
