Just wanted to share a quick look at my home Level 2 charging setup for my new 2026 Subaru Trailseeker EV. I didn't want to shell out thousands of dollars right away to have an electrician run a dedicated 240V line out to the garage, so I looked for a logical workaround using what I already had.

Since my laundry room is right off the garage and has a ready-to-go 240V dryer outlet, I ended up using an electronic smart dryer splitter to safely share the circuit between my appliance and the car.

Here is how the setup breaks down:

• The Splitter: A Smart Dryer Splitter mounted right on the laundry room wall. It automatically senses when the dryer is running and manages the load safely so I don't trip any breakers or overload the circuit.
• The Cable Run: Connected to a 25 ft NEMA 10-30P to 14-50R EV extension cord (with a heavy-duty handle) that runs cleanly out to the car.
• Organization: To keep everything neat and off the floor, I wall-mounted a J1772 cable organizer and nozzle holster combo that has a small storage box built in.

It’s been a seamless, incredibly affordable way to get solid L2 speeds overnight without messing with a massive electrical panel upgrade project.
